Aaron Rodgers Reveals The Reason He Believes Fans Rooted Against Green Bay Packers

In an interview this week, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers shared the reason he believes so many fans have been rooting against his team as of late, and it may surprise you.

Rodgers Reveals Why Fans Root Against Packers

While appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers expressed his belief that social media users have been actively rooting against the Packers because he is unvaccinated against COVID-19.  The Green Bay Packers lost to the San Francisco 49ers in a playoff game on Jan. 22. The score was 49ers 13 and Green Bay 10.

“There were a ton of people rooting against us because of my vaccination status & them wanting to see us lose so they could pile on… we knew this was coming down the pipe at some point,” he said, according to CNN

Rodgers went on to explain that it was never his intention to become a divisive figure in the debate over COVID-19 vaccines.

“I realize that I’ve been divisive this season by my vaccination status and my willingness to talk about it,” he said. “I take accountability for that & I never wanted to be a divisive, polarizing figure on this.”

Rodgers Didn’t Want To Be A Poster Boy In Vaccine Debate

That being said, Rodgers also said he had no intention of compromising his beliefs just to satisfy his haters. Even so, being the poster boy of the vaccine debate was never something that Rodgers wanted to be.

Rodgers came under fire a few months ago when he said he was “immunized” against COVID-19, only to later clarify that he was not vaccinated.

This has made him a divisive figure in the eyes of leftists in particular, who are against anyone not getting their COVID-19 shots.

Later in this same interview, Rodgers shut down rumors that he planned to retire and come back the next year.

“One thing I would 100% not do is retire and then come back a year later,” he said, putting these rumors to rest. “I don’t have any desire to do that. That makes no sense.”

‘I Don’t Have A Fear Of Retirement’

Retirement seems to be something that Rodgers is still considering, however.

“I don’t have a fear of retirement,” Rodgers said, according to ESPN. “I felt that during the offseason, so there’s not any fear around it. The uncertainty is not unsettling at all. It’s almost exciting thinking about what life is going to look like moving forward.”

“I think it’ll be a lot of intuition and a lot of feel,” he continued. “You have to imagine yourself in those situations because I don’t want to be sitting there during the season going, ‘Man, I probably should’ve hung it up.’ Or, sitting there and not with the organization — an organization — and going, ‘God, I should be playing right now.’

Whether you like Rodgers or not, you have to give him credit for being someone who sticks to his guns and thinks for himself no matter what.

We’ll all be staying tuned to see what his decision is regarding his future career with the Packers, and with the NFL at large.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
