Vince McMahon was able to calm a WWE situation down when Sasha Banks requested a release. Also, the AEW contracts of Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega are up shortly.

Sasha Banks Requested Release

Since joining the main roster, Sasha Banks has always stolen the attention. She can wrestle and talk, which are two traits for any wrestler.

While her WWE career has been full of huge moments and title wins, she nearly quit. While speaking on Ariel Helwani Meets, Banks went over her hiatus after WrestleMania 35 and request for a release.

“I felt like I wasn’t giving my highest good,” said Banks. “So if I’m not giving my highest good, if I’m not being the best, if I’m not being used as the best, then I’ve got to go find that.”

“I’m always that performer wanting to be #1 and I felt in my heart that I just wasn’t feeling good. I wasn’t feeling good, so I felt like I did all that I could and I needed that break, I needed that release.”

“And then Vince told me ‘no’ and that was a great decision on both ends because he knew what he saw. He’s so smart, he’s so kind, he’s so gentle.”

“He actually knew what I needed which was time. At the end of the point, all of use just need a little bit of time.”

Banks did return and began a heel run where she won singles and tag team gold. It would also lead her to defeating Bayley inside Hell in a Cell to continue their several year feud.

Banks is now on SmackDown and somewhere in the top three female superstars of that brand. Thankfully, she took that short break and is back to being The Boss.

When AEW started forming, they offered their talent contracts in the three range. For some, they might have been given different lengths.

The earliest to sign with AEW were the EVPs Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. So far, the Young Bucks have resigned until 2024.

Now, Wade Keller of Post Wrestling noted how AEW will try to re-sign Rhodes and Omega. There deals should be up sometime the first half of next year.

“There are people I’ve talked to in AEW who are looking at their contracts and wondering what their deal is gonna be next time when their first deals come up and how much leverage they’re gonna have with WWE or New Japan or heck, GCW with their ticket sales these days or the indie scene as an option to book yourself,” said Keller. “It’s gonna be interesting to watch.”

Rhodes is at somewhat of a crosswords as the crowd wants him to turn heel. Besides wrestling, he is very busy working on TV shows and his baby.

Omega just dropped the AEW World Championship after a tour where he collected belts almost everywhere. He has been dealing with injuries for years and is not expected back until the first quarter of 2022.

“I have heard the intent and the hope is that Cody and Kenny and Tony all come to deals,” said Keller. “There’s not signs that any of them want to leave or are disgruntled to the point that they shouldn’t be able to come to an extension, but I don’t know the situation.”

“Maybe Cody and Kenny already signed extensions and they kept it quiet.  I think Cody and Kenny might be next in terms of signing extensions.”
