Gary Sinise Receives Major Award For His Military Work

Academy Award-nominated Hollywood star Gary Sinise was given a major honor last week for the humanitarian work he has done for the military and for veterans – and for military caregivers.

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation announced that Sinise is the 2021 recipient of the Tom Hanks Caregiver Champion Award in recognition of his outstanding support of military caregivers.

“We are thrilled to honor Gary Sinise as part of this special evening recognizing America’s hidden heroes and those who support them,” said Steve Schwab, CEO of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, according to Audacy.

“Gary has rightly become one of the most well-known and respected advocates for the military community, and we are grateful for his commitment to our nation’s hidden heroes,” he added.

Named after Hanks because of the work he’s done with the military as well, this award has previously been given to people like former First Lady Michelle Obama and music superstar Tim McGraw.

Country music icon Lee Greenwood also received an award. He got the foundation’s Caregiver Ally Award for his support of the military community.

Greewood is going out on tour next year to celebrate his 40th anniversary as a recording artist.

Sinise’s Work With Military

Sinise founded The Gary Sinise Foundation in 2011, which has done tons of work to help members of the military and veterans.

“At the Gary Sinise Foundation, we serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need,” the foundation’s mission states. “We do this by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.”

Sinise himself remains as devoted as ever to making life better for members of the military, veterans, and their families.

“Freedom and security are precious gifts that we, as Americans, should never take for granted,” Sinise has said. “We must do all we can to extend our hand in times of need to those who willingly sacrifice each day to provide that freedom and security. While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more.”

Sinise Is A Rarity In Hollywood

We live in a time in which Hollywood is filled with self-centered liberal elites who tend to ignore the plights of those who serve our country. That’s what makes the work Sinise is doing all the more refreshing, remarkable, and inspiring.

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation certainly picked the right person to receive this award this year. God bless you, Gary Sinise!
