Long before she married Prince Harry, Meghan Markle got her start as a briefcase girl on the game show “Deal Or No Deal.” Now, former “Deal Or No Deal” host Howie Mandel is opening up about what Meghan was like on the show.

You can see her opening a briefcase right here:

‘She Was Slightly Duchessy’

“She was slightly duchessy,” Mandel said jokingly while taking part in the Television Critics Association press tour. Yahoo News reported that he and executive producer Scott St. John talked about Meghan while promoting the return of “Deal Or No Deal” after nine years of it being off the air.

“She was not involved in many episodes, but I did remember her. She was a very nice person,” St. John recalled. “I can’t say that I saw anything—I actually think all the women on our show are special.”

Mandel agreed that all of the women who held briefcases on the show were unique individuals who had their own lives off-camera.

However, Howie Mandel didn’t remember Meghan Markle and joked about it to Giuliana Rancic:

“Not everybody will have the opportunity to meet royalty, but these are all accomplished people that have something substantial—they’re not just standing there holding a case,” he said. “They have careers, they have hobbies, they have families, they’re entrepreneurial—they’re all people. So, when somebody like Harry meets somebody who just happened to be on our show, there’s a lot to offer.”

Meghan Discusses Experience On ‘Deal Or No Deal’

Meghan herself has previously discussed her experiences working on the game show, remembering how jarring the transition to it was from a more serious previous gig.

“I would put that in the category of things I was doing while I was auditioning to try to make ends meet. I went from working in the U.S. Embassy in Argentina to ending up on ‘Deal.’ It’s run the gamut,” she told Esquire in 2013. “Definitely working on Deal or No Deal was a learning experience, and it helped me to understand what I would rather be doing.”

After her stint on “Deal Or No Deal,” Meghan was cast as a series regular on the legal drama “Suits,” which she starred in until her marriage to Harry in 2018. Last year, Meghan made her return to Hollywood when she moved to Southern California with her family after they stepped down as senior royals.

Meghan’s Return To Hollywood

Meghan is now working behind the scenes in Hollywood, as she and Harry have signed a multi-million dollar deal to create content for Netflix. While “Deal Or No Deal” is coming back to television, fans should not expect to see Meghan opening up a briefcase on the show again anytime soon!
