Queen Elizabeth Reportedly ‘Ordered To Quit Drinking By Royal Doctors’ At 95

Queen Elizabeth has reportedly been “ordered to quit drinking by royal doctors,” according to a family friends. Find out more about the Queen’s past drinking habits in the video below. 

Queen Elizabeth Told To Stop Drinking

Two sources close to the 95-year-old monarch said that she has been told to not drink alcohol, except for on special occasions. 

“The Queen has been told to give up her evening drink which is usually a martini,” one insider told Vanity Fair. “It’s not really a big deal for her, she is not a big drinker but it seems a trifle unfair that at this stage in her life she’s having to give up one of very few pleasures.”

“The alcohol has gone, her doctors want to make sure she is as fit and healthy as possible,” a second source added.

Queen’s Drinking Habits

Daily Mail reported that while the Queen rarely drinks in public, sources have said that her favorite drink is a dry martini. She is also believed to enjoy a glass of sweet wine with dinner. Her late cousin Margaret Rhodes once claimed that she was known to drink a glass of champagne before bed.

Rhodes also alleged that the Queen’s royal pattern of gin and Dubonnet before lunch, wine with the meal, a martini before dinner then a glass of champagne “never varied.”

The Queen is preparing to celebrate a record 70 years on the British throne next year with her Platinum Jubilee. Doctors want to make sure she is healthy for that event, which is believed to be why they are making this recommendation that she refrain from alcohol. 

Her Husband Passed Away

The monarch lost her beloved husband Prince Philip this year at the age of 99. She recently spoke out about him for the first time since his death while addressing the Scottish Parliament.

“I have spoken before of my deep and abiding affection for this wonderful country, and of the many happy memories Prince Philip and I always held of our time here,” the Queen said in her speech, according to People Magazine. “It is often said that it is the people that make a place, and there are few places where this is truer than in Scotland, as we have seen in recent times.”

As much as we want to see Queen Elizabeth healthy for her Platinum Jubilee, my goodness, give the woman a break and let her at least have her sweet wine or dry martini when she wants it.
