Queen Elizabeth Cancels Trip To Ireland On Advice From Her Medical Team

Queen Elizabeth was reportedly forced to cancel an upcoming trip to Northern Ireland on the advice of her medical team. Her doctors also recently told her to stop drinking alcohol except for special occasions.

Queen Cancels Ireland Trip

“The Queen has reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for the next few days,” a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said, according to Daily Mail.

“Her Majesty is in good spirits and is disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland, where she had been due to undertake a series of engagements today and tomorrow,” the spokesperson added. “The Queen sends her warmest good wishes to the people of Northern Ireland, and looks forward to visiting in the future.”

Queen Disappointed To Cancel Trip

While the Queen is said to be in good spirits, she is also disappointed at not being able to carry out the two-day trip, which was scheduled to begin today.

A royal source spoke out to say that there is “no cause for caution” over the Queen’s health, and that her decision is not related to COVID-19.

The Queen is going to rest at Windsor Castle for the next few days before her next appearance on November 1, when she is set to host a reception in Scotland for the Cop26 conference.

Fox News reported that the Queen made it clear earlier this week that she doesn’t want to let her age slow her down when she politely declined an offer to be named “Oldie of the Year” by a British magazine, saying she does not meet “the relevant criteria.”

“Her Majesty believes you are as old as you feel, as such The Queen does not believe she meets the relevant criteria to be able to accept, and hopes you will find a more worthy recipient,” her assistant private secretary Tom Laing-Baker said in a letter, which he ended “with Her Majesty’s warmest best wishes.”

Queen Slowing Down A Bit

Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, explained that the Queen’s fall schedule has been busier than usual, and that last-minute cancellations will likely happen more in the future.

“Every now and again there will be this reminder that she is 95 and she can’t do what was expected of her 10, 20 years ago,” he explained.

People need to take care of themselves at any age. However, it becomes even more important when one is over the age of 90.

We want the Queen around and healthy for as long as possible. And, certainly hope that she is forgiven for canceling some events at the last minute, if that is what her medical team is advising her to do.
