Katie Couric Defends Decision To Edit RBG Criticism Of Colin Kaepernick’s Anthem Kneeling

In an appearance on the “Today” show Tuesday morning, Katie Couric defended herself amid backlash for various revelations in her new memoir “Going There” including the fact she edited Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s comments on Colin Kaepernick’s anthem kneeling.

Katie Couric Stands By Censoring Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Daily Mail reported that one of the most shocking revelations that Couric made in her book was that she censored Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Specifically, she edited out RBG’s comments slamming Colin Kaepernick and anyone who disrespects our flag by kneeling during the national anthem.

Couric defended her move to protect Kaepernick as simply being an “editorial decision.”

“I think what people don’t realize is we make editorial decisions like that all the time,” Couric said. “I chose to talk about this and put it in the book for a discussion. I wrote that it was a conundrum that I asked about Colin Kaepernick.”

She also tried to provide reasoning for the edit.

“I did include that she said it was dumb and disrespectful and stupid and arrogant. There was another line that I thought…’I wasn’t sure what she meant,'” Couric continued. “I thought it was subject to interpretation. I wish I had asked a follow up and let her clarify or just run it, and let her clarify later.”

Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Criticism Of Colin Kaepernick’s Anthem Kneeling

The line that Katie Couric is reportedly referring to was RBG criticizing Kaepernick by saying that those who take a knee during the anthem “show contempt for a government that has made it possible for their parents and grandparents to live a decent life.”

“The most pertinent and direct response, I did include,” Couric concluded. “Maybe I should have run the other sentence as well.”

In other parts of her memoir, Couric rips into former boyfriends, friends, co-workers and bosses.

She also has faced backlash for the way she admitted to treating her female colleagues like Diane Sawyer and Ashleigh Banfield, who it appears was iced out at NBC by Couric.

However, Couric claimed this morning that the backlash she’s received has only been because things are being taken out of context by the media.

‘So Much Of It Has Been Taken Out Of Context’

“So much of it has been taken out of context…. Yes I am honest about some things. It’s not my little pony and sunshine and lollipops. It’s a true account of my journey from my perspective,” Couric said. “A lot of it was completely taken out of context – to get clicks probably.”

Katie Couric censoring a Supreme Court justice just to protect “woke” athlete Colin Kaepernick is a prime example of why millions of Americans no longer have any trust in the mainstream media.

Nice try, Katie, but all you’re doing in trying to defend yourself is digging your hole even deeper.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
