Last month, we reported that Lori Loughlin was launching a Hollywood comeback with her first acting role since going to jail for her role in the college admissions scandal. Now, the first clip from Lori Loughlin’s television comeback on “When Hope Calls” is out and Hallmark issued a statement.

The preview has some fans already touting her praises on social media.

Lori Loughlin Launches Television Comeback

Entertainment Tonight reported that Loughlin is set to reprise her “When Calls The Heart” role of Abigail Stanton on GAC Family’s “When Hope Calls,” and the first clip from her work can be seen below.

“When Hope Calls” is a spinoff of the popular Hallmark series and entering its second season.

In the clip, which is from the show’s two-part premiere, Abigail and her son, Cody (Carter Ryan) walk through town and admire a Christmas tree.

“Cody, nothing has made me happier than being your mom,” Abigail says.

“You mean it?” he asks, to which Abigail responds, “With all my heart.”

You can see the preview of Lori Loughlin’s return as Abigail Stanton on \”When Hope Calls” in the video below.

Hallmark Cut Ties To Lori Loughlin

Loughlin last portrayed Abigail Stanton in season 6 of “When Calls The Heart,” before the Hallmark Channel cut all ties with her in 2019 amidst her college admissions scandal.

The Hallmark Channel released a statement this week reiterating that they are not working with Loughlin.

“Hallmark Channel has not cast Lori Loughlin in any current projects, including When Calls the Heart, nor do we have any plans to cast her in the future,” the statement read. “She was cast by GAC Family, a wholly separate cable network not affiliated with Hallmark Channel or Crown Media Family Networks.”

Clearly Hallmark is going out its way to distance themselves from former star Lori Loughlin post-scandal.

It will be interesting to see if Loughlin’s former star power will bring “When Calls The Heart” fans over to GAC Family for “When Hope Calls”.

College Admissions Scandal

Loughlin and her fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli were accused of paying $500,000 in bribe money to the University of Southern California. The bribe got their two daughters admitted as members of the crew team without either girl ever having rowed.

The couple plead guilty and serve jail time for their part in the scandal.

Their daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli is currently competing on “Dancing With The Stars,” and she said that she’s “super excited” about her mom’s return to acting.

A source said back in March that Loughlin is “excited to work again” following her release from prison.

“Lori’s been offered many opportunities to open up about what she has been through, but she can’t seem to find the right words,” this insider said. “She fears no matter what she says, people can’t get past this. At this point, she just wants to move forward and focus on the positive.”

Only time will tell if Hallmark’s one-time darling can rebuild the acting career she enjoyed before her scandal.

Do you think that society – and Hollywood – should forgive Lori Loughlin for her role in the college admissions scandal? Sound off in the comments.
