Queen Elizabeth’s Fiery Response To Meghan Markle’s ‘Tiara Tantrum’ Is Revealed

A royal biographer is opening up in a new book about the biting response that Queen Elizabeth had to Meghan Markle’s “tiara tantrum” in the lead-up to her wedding to Prince Harry. Traditionally, the Queen will lend a tiara to a Royal bride for their special day. However, it’s reported the Queen did not agree with Meghan’s first choice of headpiece.

Meghan’s ‘Tiara Tantrum’

“In November 2018, just days after the couple returned from their successful tour Down Under, The Times reported that Meghan had thrown a ‘tiara tantrum’ shortly before her wedding because the tiara she wanted to wear was not available,” Andrew Morton wrote in a new chapter of his book “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” according to Yahoo News.

Instead of giving in to Prince Harry’s request for the tiara that Meghan wanted, the Queen allegedly said to him, “She gets what tiara she’s given by me.”

Harry was reportedly “irate” over this snub and began saying the infamous line “what Meghan wants, Meghan gets” to “anyone who would listen.”

Meghan Is Given Different Tiara

Instead of the tiara she’d wanted, Meghan was given Queen Mary’s bandeau tiara from Her Majesty’s collection for her wedding. The Queen also lent Meghan a diamond to put at the center of a diamond circlet at the front.

“When it came to the tiara on the day I was very fortunate to be able to choose this very gorgeous Art Deco-style bandeau tiara,” Meghan said in her voiceover for the royal wedding outfit exhibition at Windsor in 2019.

“Harry and I had gone to Buckingham Palace to meet with Her Majesty the Queen to select one of the options that were there, which was an incredibly surreal day, as you can imagine,” Meghan added, ignoring the fact that in reality, she had not gotten the tiara that she’d wanted.

“That was the one that I think as we tried them on stood out; I think it was just perfect because it was so clean and simple, and I think also at that point an extension to what Clare (the Givenchy head designer) and I had been trying to do with the dress, which was have something that could be so incredibly timeless but still feel modern,” Meghan continued.

Queen Allows Princess Eugenie To Wear Tiara Meghan Had Wanted

Omid Scobie, co-author of the Harry and Meghan biography “Finding Freedom,” has said that her first choice was actually the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara.

While the Queen refused to allow her to use this tiara, she allowed her granddaughter Princess Eugenie to wear it just six months later for her wedding to Jack Brooksbank.

It is not known how Meghan responded to this.
