Chip Gaines shocked his fans last week by shaving off his signature locks and going completely bald, but he did so for a very good cause!
Chip Gaines Shaves His Head
Chip took to Instagram posting a video in which he shaved off the shoulder-length hair that he’s maintained for years and went completely bald to support the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Children With Hair Loss foundation.
Chip’s wife Joanna and a 16-year-old boy Bailey joined him as he went to the barbershop to get the haircut.
Entertainment Tonight reported that Chip met Bailey four years ago, when the young man was undergoing cancer treatment at St. Jude.

Chip Donates Hair To Make Wigs For Kids With Cancer
Chip explained in the video that he will be donating his hair to Children With Hair Loss, which will use it to make wigs for kids undergoing cancer treatment.
Fans of the Gaines family won’t be surprised to see Joanna playfully poking fun at Chip for his new look, saying that he has “never looked this clean” before.
Chip grew out his hair even more than usual during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Joanna calling his look “wild and free” back in June.

“It’s like politics in America in 2021, it’s like you either love it or you hate it,” Chip said at the time. “And so I just scroll through Twitter. I’m like, ‘Ow, that’s hurtful,’ ‘Wow, she thinks I look like Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall,’ ‘Wow, that’s a hard thing to swallow, is it that bad?,’ ‘Oh, this person likes it.’ So I appreciate you saying you like it because I’m really feeling it, you know, it seems to be working for me.”

Chip Praises St. Jude Children’s Hospital
At the time of this writing, Chip has raised over $511,000 for St. Jude’s. On his fundraising page, he explained why this hospital has such a special meaning to him.
“Once you meet the kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, you can’t forget them,” he wrote. “Jo and I have had the honor of visiting a few times over the years, and every time, we leave completely changed. These kids have inspired us time and again with their uncanny strength, radiance, and courage.”
“What’s so impressive about St. Jude is the majority of their funding comes from donors,” Chip continued. “Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food—because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. And with your help, I want to keep it that way.”

Many celebrities would be far too vain to shave off their hair for charity, but not Chip! This is exactly why he and Joanna are such positive role models to Americans everywhere.
