Sean Penn Criticises Trump Administration’s COVID-19 Response, Says “It Felt Like Someone With a Machine Gun Gunning Down” People From ”A Turret At The White House”

Sean Penn likened Donald Trump's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic to "someone with a machine gun gunning down communities".

Woke Hollywood actor and raging left-wing activist Sean Penn recently criticised the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, outrageously claiming that “it felt like someone with a machine gun gunning down” people from “a turret at the White House.”

As per Variety, the actor made his inflammatory comments during a promotional press conference for his upcoming film Flag Day held at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, holding back no punches and openly criticising both the presidency of former President Donald Trump and the actions of his respective task force.

“We were — not only as a country, but as a world – let down and openly neglected, misinformed,” Pen asserted. “We had truth and reason assaulted under what was in all terms an obscene administration. When my team and I would come home from test and vaccinations sites at night, particularly during testing under Trump, to maddening news — it felt like someone with a machine gun gunning down communities that were most vulnerable from a turret at the White House.”

Feeling the necessity to push his woke narrative even further, Penn bashed the Trump Administration even further while also seeing fit to sing the praises of current President Joe Biden.

“In the transition to the task force that President Biden put together, it was really that feeling like a sun was rising,” Penn explained. “There was no effort of integrity coming from the federal government until the Trump administration was dismissed.”

It is interesting to see Penn heavily criticising the Trump Administration’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially when he seemingly turned a blind eye to what’s been happening in Venezuela, a country that the actor almost blindly supports.

Despite Open Democracy reporting last month that Venezuela was misreporting deaths and President Nicolás Maduro’s government being criticised by the Pan American Health Organisation for the extraordinarily slow pace of testing seen throughout the country, Penn did not criticise the South American nation’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a matter of fact, the renowned actor/activist has not addressed the topic at all.

To provide further context, Penn has been a supporter of former Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez — who he originally met in 2007 — even joining him on stage during an election rally held in 2012.

When Chávez passed away, Penn issued a statement that read, “Today the people of the United States lost a friend it never knew it had. And poor people around the world lost a champion.”

“I lost a friend I was blessed to have. My thoughts are with the family of President Chavez and the people of Venezuela,” The actor’s statement continued. “Venezuela and its revolution will endure under the proven leadership of Vice President Maduro.”

In addition to Chávez, Penn has also openly supported his successor, Nicolás Maduro, both of whom have been described by the Organisation of American States as a dictator.

Given his support of these regimes, it seems quite hypocritical of the actor to even suggest that the handling of the pandemic under the Trump Administration felt like “someone with a machine gun gunning down” people – Is the actor even aware that the government of Venezuela actually guns people down with machine guns?

In all fairness, there’s a good chance he’s not, as Maduro has been reported to have “manipulated crime scenes to make it look as if the victims had been resisting arrest” in order to make it seem as if the excessive force used by government forces was justified.
