Former Victoria’s Secret Model Slams Company Over ‘Joke’ New Wokeness

Former Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm is calling the company’s new woke marketing approach “a joke.”

The lingerie giant recently announced they are doing away with the traditional Victoria’s Secret Dream Angels models. They are being replaced with the VS Collective which includes Megan Rapinoe and a transgendered model.

For decades, Victoria’s Secret has been the standard bearer when it comes to lingerie. This risky approach might tank their brand. These models are not necessarily going to resonate with the company’s customers. After all, most women don’t have the same issues with fitting into panties as a biological male.

Former Victoria’s Secret Model Bridget Malcolm Responds

Bridget Malcolm is taking issue with the fact that their new approach seems to only be about the bottom line and making money.

She doesn’t see the company as caring about women.

“Too little, too late Victoria’s Secret,” the model captioned the video before adding. “Your performative allyship is a joke.”

Performative allyship is when a company promotes or accepts a cause in order to restore or improve their branding.

It is also referred to as performative activism.

It’s not genuine or caring move. It’s a business approach.

The model knows first hand about Victoria’s Secret’s approach to models and the body types the company wanted.

“Sadness Behind My Eyes”

Malcolm found the bra she wore for the 2016 fashion show.

It was a 30 A, which highlights how underweight she was at the time. She put it over her current bra which is 34B.

The difference in her body is striking given that she is currently healthy.

The following year she was rejected for the show because her bra size increased by a cup size.

“I was rejected from the show in 2017 by Ed Razek,” she says in her TikTok video. “He said “my body did not look good enough.” I wore a size 30B at that point.”

Malcolm then showed pictures of herself as a Victoria Secret model, including wearing the bra that she put on in her TikTok video.

Even though the bra fit was so small on her now, it appeared too large five years ago because she needed to be underweight to model for the company.

“Look how big it was on me,” she said about the 2016 bra. “The sadness behind my eyes from the 2016 show breaks my heart.”

Victoria’s Secret has been feeling the heat over this viral video. A spokesperson issued a statement to People attempting to distract.

“There is a new leadership team at Victoria’s Secret who is fully committed to the continued transformation of the brand with a focus on creating an inclusive environment for our associates, customers and partners to celebrate, uplift and champion all women,” the statement said.
