Going Home To Hell

It’s another RAW In A Nutshell, and this time the focus is obvious: the red brand is going home to Hell In A Cell this Sunday.

I mean, as far as the focus of a show is concerned, nothing could be simpler than the go-home show.

That is precisely what this RAW In A Nutshell is. And with the red brand going home to Hell In A Cell, there is still a bit to settle.

There is our RAW main event-Lashley will defend against Drew McIntyre yet again. This time, in a Cell.

We have the RAW Women’s Championship match to look forward too as well, of course. That would be Charlotte Flair getting a crack at current champ Rhea Ripley.

Of course, with a PPV running a few hours, there are more matches to be expected than just those two main attractions.

And we have a few hours this Monday to set up the rest of the card…or as much as WWE cares to right now.

Which leads us to this…

RAW In A Nutshell: Red Brand Going Home To Hell In A Cell

Let’s crack open this Nutshell and see how things unfold!

Best Match of the night:

The main event was probably the best, but honestly I think a bit of the chaos detracted from it.

Plus, a Drew win just makes one think…he’s losing on Sunday. If you didn’t think that already.

I enjoyed RK-Bro versus New Day more, to be honest.

Worst match of the night:

Charlotte and Nikki Cross.

Like, Cross is the queen of cheap “wins” now, and it serves a purpose of furthering Charlotte and Rhea Ripley…but I feel Cross deserves better.

I may be alone in that one too…but seeing Cross do the job again? I mean, that’s what she’s been doing lately, glorified or not.

It’s not like she’s going to magically vault into legit RAW Championship contention. At least, I am not expecting it…

Star of the Night

How about some love for the victorious debut of Piper Niven?

Spot of the Night:

Nothing I care to call out.

Jobber of the Night:

This one sure feels like Nikki Cross.

Upset of the Night:

I mean…Piper Niven beating Naomi? Even if somehow it goes down as a victory for Eva Marie?

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

I feel like it is safe to say that WWE has no clue how to book Rhea Ripley.

One part of the show, she’s a babyface. Later, she’s not.

It is the same show…and the same person…and it’s like she’s flipping face/heel constantly.

Botch of the night:

My call for botch of the evening is…what WWE is doing with Alexa Bliss.

More later, but here it is in a Nutshell…

With The Fiend, the creepy thing worked. She didn’t need it, but it worked.

No Fiend, no need for it. Bliss was perfectly good without the witchcraft.

It’s now bordering on not entertaining.

Commentary of the night:

I like the new guy. That is all…

Noteworthy Moment:

It was called ahead of time, but while Eva Marie was live on television this week…she did not wrestle. Feels familiar, no?

However, Piper Niven made her RAW debut. I am not upset about that (one seems to have more talent than the other, so it balances out).

Also…remember when it was mentioned that perhaps part of why WWE was OK cutting Strowman loose was Omas?

Keep that in mind…

With the MVP moves to get under Kofi’s skin…is WWE looking to split the rest of New Day up?

Or turn both heel and re-build a Hurt Business? Maybe neither?

Overall lowlights:

I will say it…and I’ve said it before. I am, more and more, over Alexa Bliss as the female Fiend.

With The Fiend, the creepiness worked. Without him, it’s just getting old.

I may be alone there, but it’s just harder and harder to care about it. WWE took too long to get Bliss back in as a competitor, and as we move to live arena shows again…her schtick does not translate as well.

Also…how Rhea is being booked is somewhat frustrating. She’s perfectly fine as one or the other, but be consistent.

Overall highlights:

Eva Marie didn’t wrestle!

New Day are really good, and getting RK-Bro over just proves it. Arguably the best match tonight.

Good main event, even if it was probably way too busy.

After the final bell:

Honestly, this was a weird go home show, with the red brand going home to Hell In A Cell.

Enough good bits from this RAW In A Nutshell to not make me want to rip out my hair (which is good, because I am intentionally bald).

But…enough parts of RAW that made me wonder if some of the creative team remembered this was the red brand going home to Hell In A Cell.

It was just a weird feeling.

Still, I am intrigued by the Women’s Championship. I am very much interested to see what happens in the RAW Championship Cell match too.
