Prince George got a seventh birthday gift last summer that he will undoubtedly never forget. His parents used the occasion to tell him that he would be King of England someday, according to a new report.

Royal historian Robert Lacey revealed this in a new, updated version of his book “Battle of Brothers.”

William And Kate Tell George About His Future

“William has not revealed to the world how and when he broke the big news to his son. Maybe one day George will tell us the story himself,” Lacey wrote in an excerpt obtained by Daily Mail.

“But sometime around the boy’s seventh birthday in the summer of 2020 it is thought that his parents went into more detail about what the little prince’s life of future royal ‘service and duty’ would particularly involve,” he added.

George turned seven on July 22 of last year. His parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, reportedly wanted to tell him about his future in a “controlled moment of their choice.”

Here’s a quick look at Prince William and Prince George:

This was partly because of “William’s unhappiness at the haphazard fashion in which the whole business of his royal destiny had buzzed around his head from the start.”

William Wants Prince George To Have ‘A Normal Family Upbringing’

Lacey went on to explain that William’s goal was to give George “a normal family upbringing” that would enable the monarchy “to stay relevant and keep up with modern times.'”

If this report is true, it means that Prince George had no idea that he would be king someday when he posed in the “Four Monarchs” photograph of December 2019 alongside the Queen, 95, his father William and grandfather Prince Charles, 72.

“The prince had been placed on a rep-carpeted step in order to bring him up closer to the level of his great-grandmother,” Lacey wrote. “What a fascinating and historic image to remind us of the essence of the royal system! The current monarch with three future monarchs. All the living heirs – and not a suggestion of a ‘spare.'”

Prince George Knows He’s ‘Different’ From His Siblings

A royal expert claimed last year that Prince George knows he’s “very different” from his siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis because he’s often “singled out” to spend time with his great-grandmother and his grandfather Charles.

Royal commentator Katie Nicholl claimed that the exclusion of his younger siblings means George “understands that he’s different from them” despite his parents’ attempts to treat them all equally.

We can only imagine what it’s like to be a small child hearing that you will be the leader of a country someday!

It will certainly be fascinating to see what kind of a king little George will be when that happens in the future.
