Over the weekend, a video captured the shocking scene of Chicago gang dragging a man and woman out of their car. The young parents were shot at point blank range in front of their child.

This is yet another example of how violence has a stronghold on the Windy City as Mayor Lori Lightfoot fails to take action.

The young man and woman’s murders were part of a brutal assault in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. The shooting occurred in front of crowds celebrating Puerto Rican People’s Day.

Gyovanni Arzuaga had a Puerto Rican flag on his car when he was dragged from it and shot.

Young Couple Shot In Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago

What was intended to be a day of celebration ended in a double homicide.

Arzuaga and Yasmin Perez had two children. Now those children are orphans courtesy of Chicago gangland violence.

A GoFundMe for the family announced the young mother’s death.

Mayor Lightfoot was at the Puerto Rican People’s Parade earlier in the day.

But her presence clearly did not concern violent Chicago gang members out to commit murder.

Lightfoot has been soft on crime and Chicago Police are even limited by a new foot pursuit policy. The policy prohibits them from chasing a subject who is injured, allowing suspects to get away.

It is being considered a miracle the flying bullets did not hit Arzuaga and Perez’s child who watched from the car.

Now, that child is left to deal with unimaginable trauma because of the ordeal and face life without parents.

Twenty One People Shot In Windy City On Saturday Night

This wasn’t the only shooting in that neighborhood.

There were a total of 10 shootings from Friday night to Sunday in Humboldt Park, leaving at least three dead.

Twenty one people were shot in Chicago on Saturday night alone. With summer just officially beginning, this may foreshadow yet another deadly season.

The shocking video of the murders of Arzuaga and Perez highlights how it is dangerous just to drive in your car in some parts of Chicago.

The video below is graphic and disturbing.

This public display of pride in being Puerto Rican may have cost these two young parents their lives because violent crime continues to escalate.
