There have been conflicting reports about whether Meghan Markle will travel with Prince Harry for the unveiling of a statue of Princess Diana at Kensington Palace.

However, a source close to the couple is dismissing reports that the Duchess of Sussex is planning to fly to London with her husband next month.

Meghan Won’t Go To U.K.

“Meghan is not going to travel. She has just had a baby and Harry will travel alone,” the source said, according to Daily Mail

“Meghan will not fly to the UK to join Harry for the unveiling of a statue of his late mother Princess Diana on July 1st, a source confirmed after a US website claimed she would be attending,” added ITV Royal Producer Lizzie Robinson.

Recently Radar Online reported Meghan could possibly attend the ceremony to support Harry because relations between him and his family have worsened.

Source Claims Meghan Will Make Trip

The publication shared information from an insider alleging that Meghan “knows how hard it was to attend his grandfather’s funeral alone” and that she doesn’t want that to happen again.

The source allegedly added that Harry has been “given the cold shoulder by most of his relatives,” with many refusing to converse with him.

“Meghan and Harry know the event is going to be dominated by Prince William, Kate and their children,” the source continued. “The Cambridges call Kensington Palace home and have been working feverishly to make [sure] the entire event is flawless. The day will not just be about honoring Diana on what would have been her 60th birthday, but also an opportunity for William to take ownership of his mother’s legacy.”

There are still some reports floating around that Meghan Markle is contemplating the trip and will be a “secret guest.” But that doesn’t seem to be the case at this point.

Unveiling The Statue Of Princess Diana

The statue is set to be unveiled on July 1, which would have been Diana’s 60th birthday. It will be located in the Sunken Gardens, which was Diana’s favorite spot at Kensington Palace.

Ian Rank-Broadly was commissioned to create the sculpture. He also designed the image of the Queen that is used on coins in the UK.

Queen Elizabeth has reportedly invited Harry to have lunch with her during his visit to the U.K.

“It’s a typically magnanimous gesture by Her Majesty,” said one courtier. “The lunch will be a chance for them to talk things through.”

This will be the first time Harry has met with his grandmother one-on-one since he and Meghan stepped down as senior royals last year.

Since then, both Harry and Meghan have publicly criticized the royal family in a series of damning interviews.
