On Wednesday, Britney Spears begged LA Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny to end her conservatorship revealing that she feels “enslaved” by her parents in a shocking statement. Now, her parents are breaking their silence in the wake of the 39-year-old pop star’s comments.
In 2008, following Britney’s public breakdown, her father petitioned for an emergency “temporary conservatorship.”
Eight months later, a judge ruled for permanent conservatorship. Her father was given control over her financial assets including her Hollywood home and credit cards.

Britney’s Mother Speaks Out
Gladstone Jones, one of Britney’s mother Lynne Spears’ attorney, told US Weekly that her client is “a very concerned mother” after hearing her daughter speak to the court for 30 minutes.
Jones went on to encourage the judge to listen to Britney’s request to hire her own private lawyer and to change her care plan.
Lynne made her own doubts about the conservatorship clear when she filed an objection to $890,000 in fees reported by Britney’s father Jamie Spears’ attorneys.
Lynne and Jamie have been divorced since 2002, and Britney’s mom claimed that the firm’s services were not “performed in good faith for the benefit” of Britney.
Jamie fired back by saying that Lynne had “zero involvement in her daughter’s conservatorship until very recently” and that her accusations “threatened to tarnish [Jamie’s] reputation as a loving, caring father.”
Her Dad Responds
Jamie responded to the hearing through his attorney Vivian Thoreen, who said, “He’s sorry to see his daughter suffering in so much pain,” according to Pop Culture.
Jamie previously released the following statement to CNN about the situation through his attorneys in March:
“Like any parent, he doesn’t always see eye-to-eye on what Britney may want. Jamie unquestionably loves Britney, and he misses her very much. But he also respects her, and he wants to give her autonomy and space.”
“And as I’ve said before, like any other family, there are ups and downs. But the key is Britney knows that she can contact her daddy anytime and that he will be there for her. Whether or not there’s a conservatorship, Jamie will love Britney.”

Britney’s Shocking Claims About Conservatorship
Britney made many shocking claims in court on Wednesday. She said she was forced to take new medication as soon as she decided to step away from her Las Vegas show.
“Lithium is a very, very strong and completely different medication compared to what I was used to,” she said. “You can go mentally impaired if you take too much if you stay on it longer than five months. But [my dad] put me on that and I felt drunk. I couldn’t even have a conversation with my mom or dad really about anything.”
“Not only did my family not do a goddamn thing, my dad was all for it,” she continued. “Anything that happened to me had to be approved by my dad. And my dad acted like he didn’t know that I was told I had to be tested over the Christmas holidays before they sent me away, when my kids went to home to Louisiana. He was the one who approved all of it. My whole family did nothing.”

Britney Allegedly Forced To Take Birth Control
Britney also claimed that she wants to have a baby but is being forced to take birth control.
“I have an IUD in my body right now that won’t let me have a baby and my conservators won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out,” she alleged. “I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told with the conservatorship I was not able to get married and have a baby.”
In her statement to the court, she also said, “I want changes and I want changes going forward. I deserve changes.”
“I just want my life back, it’s been 13 years and it’s enough.” She continued, “It’s enough and it makes no sense at all … I’m done. I want to sue my family to be totally honest with you.”
Britney has been under her conservatorship since 2008. Though her father stepped down from conservator of her person in 2019, he still has control of her finances.
She’s garnered quite a lot of support on social media for speaking out in court.

Britney Spears is essentially being enslaved, and the court system is enabling and enforcing her enslavement.

She ended her 20-minute address to the court by saying, “Basically this conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life. I’ve worked my whole life,” she said. “I feel ganged up on, I feel bullied, I feel left out and alone. I’m tired of feeling alone. I deserve to have the same rights as anybody.”
The hearing ended with out a resolution. It remains to be seen whether the judge will set her free or not.
However, Judge Penny called Spears’ remarks “courageous.” The judge said Britney would need to file a formal petition asking to end the conservatorship before she could render a decision.
