Considering his status, it is no surprise that Rowdy Roddy Piper is one of the pro wrestlers that hated losing. And, he hated it more than most other pro wrestlers.

According to Hulk Hogan, Piper hated jobbing. In fact, Hogan used to tease Piper with this fact.

“You could have made millions more, if you’d promised to do a job.”

This claim was made by Hogan on Talk is Jericho. Of course, the extent of this is currently unknown.

2. Bruno Sammartino

Being one of the biggest wrestlers of his generation, Bruno Sammartino was not big on losing either. Sammartino once said the following:

“If anybody can really beat me, fine – but that’s the only way I’ll go down.”

Sammartino was incredibly strong and wanted this to come through in his character. Needless to say, this caused problems early in his career.

Many promoters refused to employ him because of his refusal to lose. Fortunately, he eventually made it to the top and became one of the most beloved wrestlers in the world.

3. Bruiser Brody

Bruiser Brody also made our list of wrestlers that hated losing.

Brody was actually known for his hatred of wrestling promoters. In fact, he was more interested in keeping his character than protecting his promotion.

In the end, the wild man persona hit off with the crowd. Despite the fact he refused to lose to the likes of Antonio Inoki.

His matches were more like brawls without much structure. That being said, he remains one of the more memorable wrestlers that hated losing more than anything!

4. The Ultimate Warrior

The Ultimate Warrior was a beloved hero to many. However, he also made our list of wrestlers that hated losing.

Ultimate Warrior may have been a fan favorite, but he was not as beloved by his colleagues. In fact, he believed he was entitled to be the star of the show and nothing else.

Warrior was also followed by quite a bit of controversy during his career, mainly relating to ethnicity and sexual orientation comments in the media.

Needless to say, not many people liked working with him.

Years later, when inducted in the Hall of Fame, his harsh character was long gone. And probably a good thing for his legacy too.

5. Antonio Inoki

Nobody will be surprised to learn that the founder of New Japan Pro Wrestling is on our list of wrestlers that hated losing. In fact, it’s not difficult to see why.

Inoki was an absolute mega star in Japan. In fact, just getting slapped by this man was considered one of the greatest honors.

Interestingly, Inoki never lost clean to other Japanese talent until 1985. That is quite the feat when you look at pro wrestling today.

6. The Undertaker

The Undertaker was not a big fan of losing either. Actually, this is not difficult to believe when you think about how protected he was throughout his career.

Taker was extremely protected in the WWE. So much so, not many wrestlers ever benefited working with him in the Attitude Era.

Of course, the one exception to this rule is Jeff Hardy. Other than him, there were no others during this wrestling era.

The Undertaker eventually took losses close to his retirement. But at that point, it was just to pass the torch to the next generation.

7. Triple H

Triple H is an ambitious man. So, it’s no surprise he is on our list of 10 wrestlers that hated losing.

Back in the day, Triple H was notorious for his arguments with creative writers. In fact, he would often pose the question:

“Am I f*cking going over?”

When a script was not to his liking, he would rip pages and close the door in the writer’s face. The only thing he cared about was looking better than Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch.

Despite his hatred of losing, you cannot argue with the man’s achievements. If anyone made it in the wrestling biz, it is certainly Triple H.

8. Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold may be one of the most beloved wrestlers, and he hated losing as well. In fact, it caused a lot of problems with the WWE during his popular years.

During his top years, there were many promising wrestlers that were doomed to mid-card due to Stone Cold. Some of the names coming to mind include Marc Mero, Jeff Jarrett, and many more.

Of course, what did not work out for them worked out for the Texas Rattlesnake. And in the end, for the WWE Universe.

9. Hulk Hogan

Hogan was pretty much allergic to jobbing. One funny story is that he would not work with Jake “The Snake” Roberts.

Hulk Hogan was scared that Jake would go over at his expense. So, he avoided Jake like the plague.

That being said, Hogan eventually had to take a dive to Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI. Interestingly enough, Ultimate Warrior was also a wrestler who hated losing.

Still, there were many men Hogan refused to lose to. And considering how big he became, looks like he made the right choice.

10. Shawn Michaels

When thinking about sore losers, you cannot forget about Shawn Michaels. While Hogan eventually caved, Shawn Michaels did not.

Michaels once taunted the Immovable Object for SummerSlam 2005.

“Awww, you don’t wanna lose a fake fight? Well, you can win the fake fight. In fact, because I’m such an upstanding Christian, you can win the fakest fight!”

While Michaels did have to cave here, he never actually drop any WWF belt clean. The only time he did was at WrestleMania XIV.

Fortunately, Michaels calmed down as the years progressed.

Are there any other wrestlers who absolutely hated to lose? Let us know in the comments.
