Meghan Markle Prince Harry Vax Live concert

On Saturday night, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made special appearances on “Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World”. The concert special aspired to advocate and raise funds for COVID-19 vaccine equity aired on Saturday. The ratings for “Vax Live”, however, speak volumes.

The event to promote “vaccine equity” boasted a star-studded line-up. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were joined by the likes of President Joe Biden, Jennifer Lopez, and more.

Despite the big names, Showbiz 411 reported that after airing from 8pm to 9pm on CBS and ABC, “Vax Live” was soundly beat in the ratings by “Dateline NBC.”

Just 1.3 million tuned in to “Vax Live” on CBS and 1.7 million watched it on ABC, while “Dateline” won out with 2.7 million viewers on NBC.

Prince Harry’s Impassioned ‘Vax Live’ Speech

During the “Vax Live” event, which was filmed the week before it aired this past weekend, Harry gave an impassioned speech in which he called for “empathy and compassion.”

“The vaccine must be distributed to everyone everywhere. We cannot rest or truly recover until there is fair distribution to every corner of the world,” Harry said.

“None of us should be comfortable thinking that we could be fine when so many others are suffering. In reality, and especially with this pandemic, when any suffer, we all suffer,” he later added. “We must look beyond ourselves with empathy and compassion for those we know, and those we don’t.”

“We need to lift up all of humanity and make sure that no person or community is left behind,” he concluded. “What we do in this moment will stand in history and tonight, we stand in solidarity with the millions of families across India who are battling a devastating second wave.”

Meghan Markle Speaks For ‘Women Of Color’

While Meghan could not appear at the event in person because she is currently pregnant with her and Harry’s second child, a baby girl who is due early this summer, she sent in a video message that was played during the show.

“Women, and especially women of color, have seen a generation of economic gain wiped out,” Meghan claimed. “Since the pandemic began, nearly 5.5 million women have lost work in the U.S., and 47 million more women around the world are expected to slip into extreme poverty.”

“My husband and I are thrilled to soon be welcoming a daughter. It’s a feeling of joy we share with millions of other families around the world,” she added. “When we think of her, we think of all the young women and girls around the globe who must be given the ability and support to lead us forward.”

“Their future leadership depends on the decisions we make and the actions we take now to set them up, and to set all of us up, for a successful, equitable and compassionate tomorrow,” Meghan concluded. “We want to make sure that as we recover, we recover stronger; that as we rebuild, we rebuild together. Thank you.”

Despite its ratings show, event sponsor Global Citizen announced Saturday that it pulled in $302 million, enough funds to procure more than 26 million doses of the vaccine.

It looks like despite Meghan and Harry’s best efforts, viewers just aren’t interested in tuning into their “woke” podcast or “Vax Live” event.
