Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, celebrated his second birthday on today in California. Though his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth is all the way across the world in the United Kingdom, the 95-year-old monarch is still making a point of celebrating the little one’s birthday.

Queen Celebrates Archie’s Birthday

“Elizabeth II is planning to wish Archie a happy birthday via Zoom and she has sent him a present and card,” a source told US Weekly. “Seeing her great-grandson’s face always brightens up her day!”

The U.K. Express reported that renowned royal expert Ingrid Seward said that a Zoom call between the Queen and Archie has been planned for later today.

“I am sure they will be in touch with the Queen so they can do a zoom call with her and Archie,” she said. “It will be very important to them that Archie knows his royal great granny back in the UK.”

The Queen also celebrated her great-grandson’s birthday on Instagram with a throwback photo of Archie with his parents soon after his birth in May of 2019.

“Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today,” the Queen captioned the image.

Harry And Meghan Ask For Donations For Archie’s Birthday

Harry and Meghan celebrated their son’s birthday as well by asking for donations in his honor on their Archewell charity’s website.

“We have been deeply touched over the past two years to feel the warmth and support for our family in honor of Archie’s birthday,” the proud parents wrote. “Many of you donate to charities on his behalf and mark the occasion by giving back or doing an act of service — all through the goodness of your hearts.”

“You raise funds for those who need it the most and continue to do so organically and selflessly,” they added. “We remain incredibly grateful. … We are inviting you to contribute whatever you can — if you have the means to do so — to bring vaccines to families in the world’s most vulnerable places.”

Harry And Meghan Expecting Second Child

Harry and Meghan are expecting their second child, a baby girl who is due early this summer.

“It’s a girl! Just to have a boy and a girl, what more can we ask for,” Harry told Oprah Winfrey back in March. “We’ve got our family. We’ve got, you know, the four of us and our two dogs, and it’s great.”

This comes at a difficult time for the royal family. It’s been just one month since Prince Philip, the Queen’s husband, passed away at the age of 99.

It also comes two months after Harry and Meghan’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah, which has reportedly only widened the rift between them and the royal family.

We’re glad to see that the Queen was able to put her grief and any royal drama that there may be to celebrate her great-grandson’s second birthday!

We also hope that Archie has a great birthday!
