In a shocking move, releases have come for Samoa Joe and eight other WWE superstars.

WWE Releases Samoa Joe, Mickie James & Seven More Superstars

Sometimes, after WrestleMania, WWE does like to clean house. That is exactly what they did as nine superstars have been released.

Below, is the official statement from WWE. Like in the past, it is short and wishes them the best in their future endeavors.

Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, Mickie James and other Superstars released

WWE has come to terms on the release of Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Tucker, Kalisto, Bo Dallas and Wesley Blake as of today April 15, 2021.

We wish them the best in all of their future endeavors.

The two biggest names include Samoa Joe and Mickie James.

Joe has been working the announce table for the past year and was there only a few days ago. He had been absent from TV because of a concussion.

Before joining WWE, Joe was a well known name around the world and worked for a lengthy time in Impact Wrestling. The former NXT Champion did work some big programs on the main roster, but injuries were a frequent issue.

When WWE decided to split the brands again, they brought back Mickie James. The long-time wrestling veteran was mostly used to elevate younger talent.

Like Joe, she recently appeared on WWE TV. She was spotted on the Takeover Stand & Deliver pre-show panel.

What The Released Superstars Were Up To

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce are best known for their team, The IIconics. They were mostly a comedy duo, but did manage to win the Women Tag Team Championships back at WrestleMania 35.

Last year, once they were split, both struggled to find their placing. Royce would randomly teaming with others, while Billie Kay was busy handing out her headshot.

Kalisto has not been seen for months. On TV, the former United States Champion was having a falling-out with the rest of Lucha House Party.

Chelsea Green was sent to the main roster with no direction. After months, she debuted and was injured in the process.

The injury is now healed and her return inside the ring was believed to be soon. She is also known for being engaged to former WWE superstar Zack Ryder.

Tucker was one half of Heavy Machinery, alongside Otis. After turning on Otis over the fall, WWE completely dropped the angle and he became an afterthought.

Wesley Blake spent several years in NXT. There, he won the tag titles with Murphy.

He debuted on the main roster as part of The Forgotten Sons, but the stable was split after controversial comments by Jaxson Ryker. Then, he briefly worked with King Corbin before that idea seemed to pass with no explanation.

Bo Dallas has not competed for WWE in 18 months. He was in Florida for WrestleMania 37, but did not appear on screen.

Along with Liv Morgan, Dallas has a real estate business and also owns a farm. Therefore, the general belief was his time in WWE was likely over.

What Now?

As of now, no other releases have been confirmed by WWE. Stay tuned as there could be more names announced today or in the coming days.

In conclusion, AEW and Impact Wrestling might be looking to sign some wrestlers in the near future.
