During the Oscars on Sunday night, Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry shocked everyone when he gave a speech defending American police officers and urged people to stand in the middle politically, rather than go radically right or left.

Afterwards, “Last Man Standing” star Tim Allen took to Twitter to praise Perry for a speech that was refreshingly different in a night full of radically leftwing speeches from arrogant Hollywood stars.

“What came out of my mouth was a grateful ‘yea baby’ at Tyler Perry’s speech at the academy awards,” Allen tweeted. “Very impressive sir.”

Tyler Perry’s Speech

When Perry took the stage on Sunday night to accept the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, many could be forgiven for thinking he would give a leftwing speech just like virtually everyone else.

Instead, he issued a call for unity, saying that his mother “taught me to refuse hate and blanket judgment.”

“In this time, with all of the internet and social media and algorithms that want us to think a certain way (in the) the 24-hour news cycle,” Perry said. “It’s my hope that we teach our kids, refuse hate. Don’t hate anybody.

Liberals often claim to be anti-hate, yet they then proceed to actively hate Trump supporters, police officers, and virtually anyone who disagrees with them. Perry, however, is actually legitimately against hating anyone.

Perry Refuses To Hate Anyone, Including Police

“I refuse to hate someone because they’re Mexican or because they are black or white. Or LGBTQ,” he said. “I refuse to hate someone because they’re a police officer or because they’re Asian. I would hope we would refuse hate.”

“And I want to take this humanitarian award and dedicate it to anyone who wants to stand in the middle,” Perry concluded. “Because that’s where healing, where conversation, where change happens. It happens in the middle. Anyone who wants to meet me in the middle to refuse hate and blanket judgment, this one is for you, too.”

Allen’s Politics

Allen has long been one of the few Hollywood stars to be open about the fact that he is not a liberal. And, that he instead falls somewhere in the middle politically.

“I’m a fiscally conservative and an emotionally liberal guy,” Allen told Entertainment Tonight earlier this year. “I want people taken care of on the social side. I think most people are like that. If you think the government can handle stuff, just look at the rollout of this vaccine.”

We could all learn a lot from both Perry and Allen, and here’s hoping we get more Hollywood stars like them in the future. Enough with the radicalism, and enough with the hate!
