5. Shawn Michaels Versus Razor Ramon at WrestleMania 10

Shawn Michaels has two matches in our top five!

Over the years, Shawn Michaels had a number of high risk matches. And the match against Razor Ramon at WrestleMania X is certainly one of them.

Believe it or not, a ladder match was not that big of a thing before WrestleMania 10. If anything, the WWE  tried to avoid gimmick matches as much as possible, as they didn’t hit off with the crowd.

However, WrestleMania 10 changed absolutely everything. Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels are largely responsible for that.

During their ladder match, there are some of the brutal spots that we associate with ladder matches today. It brought something completely different to the ring, as this was only the second ladder match in the company’s history.

The success of the ladder match is not due to the concept, but simply because of the wrestlers who partake in it. Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon certainly made the ladder match into what it is today.

This ladder match also contributed to the beginning of the Attitude Era and more brutal wrestling matches that lured wrestling fans in.

4. The Undertaker Versus Shawn Michaels At WrestleMania 25

Think of the WrestleMania match with the highest stakes? Well, then this one will most certainly come to mind.

Shawn Michaels and Undertaker both had impeccable reputations at WrestleMania and a lot to lose. So, pitting them against each other was a stroke of brilliance on the WWE’s part.

Of course, neither man had anything left to prove to the WWE Universe. In spite of that, this is still one of the best matches in history.

Both men delivered a spectacular match that can only be described as larger than life. Not only their match will be remembered, so will Shawn Michaels epic entrance from the rafters.

3. Stone Cold Steve Austin Versus The Rock At WrestleMania 17

Well, we should not be surprised that Stone Cold Steve Austin made it on our list of 5 best WWE WrestleMania matches more than once. Only this time, he faced The Rock.

The Rock and Stone Cold faced each other more than once at WrestleMania. However, their match at WrestleMania 17 is probably the most memorable for most people.

Two years after facing each other for the first time at WrestleMania, their feud re-intensified at WrestleMania 17. It became a brutal submission match that nobody will forget anytime soon.

Of course, while the match was something out of this world, the ending was even more so. After all, Vince helped Stone Cold win the match and they even drank a beer together at the end of the show.

This was the moment when Stone Cold turned heel. It was one of the most shocking turns too, considering Stone Cold was one of the most popular wrestlers in pro wrestling history.

2. Randy Savage Versus Ric Flair At WrestleMania 8

When you think of true classic matches, this one certainly comes to mind. And, there is quite a bit of star power in this match.

Randy Savage and Ric Flair are known by all who follow professional wrestling. 

When you look at the storyline for this match, it is nothing you could get away with these days. In spite of the weird story behind it, both men delivered one of the best WWE WrestleMania matches in history.

The story behind the match was an allegation that Ric Flair dated Miss Elizabeth before Savage. Needless to say, Savage was far from impressed.

Ric Flair is also the dirtiest player in the game, so he had plenty of people running some interference. However, Flair did not count on Miss Elizabeth, who eventually made her way to the ring.

The addition to Miss Elizabeth, the two icons in the ring made this match great. In fact, it is a true teaching moment that shows what pro wrestling is all about even with a ridiculous storyline.

This match was also a great contributor to the overall status of Flair and Savage. Needless to say, it is a match that will stand the test of time. 

While Savage has tragically passed away, Flair is still active in the wrestling world today. 

1. Bret Hart Versus Stone Cold Steve Austin At WrestleMania 13

It is no surprise that men like Stone Cold and Bret Hart made it into our lineup of the 5 best WWE WrestleMania matches.

It is also right that these men are holding the number one spot in our overview.

There were many things that made this submission match great. However, its biggest asset is its ability to stand the test of time.

The submission match combines both the old and new. It also brings that larger-than-life factor that is very difficult to find these days.

Bret Hart and Stone Cold could not have been more different either.

Stone Cold was the no-nonsense Texan, while Bret Hart was the technical wunderkind.

Even the ending of this match was absolutely spectacular. Stone Cold did not submit, but simply passed out from Bret’s iconic move the Sharpshooter.

This match from WrestleMania 13 was also remembered for its brutality. We all remember the shot of Stone Cold’s face dripping in blood.

And finally, one of the biggest success factors of this match is that it actually had build. In other words, there were actual consequences for this match.

Current-day wrestling could learn a lot from this match indeed.
