Queen Elizabeth Shows Off Her Playful Side As She Pens ‘Wickedly Funny’ Letters From Her Corgis To Staffers’ Dogs

Queen Elizabeth is known for being a serious and regal person, but like everyone, she has a fun playful side as well. This side of the 94-year-old monarch once came out when she wrote some “wickedly funny” letters from her beloved corgis to the dogs of her royal staffers!

We all know how much she loves her Corgis!

Check out a photo of the Queen with her corgis below.

The Queen Pens Hilarious Letters

While appearing in the ITV documentary “The Queen and her Cousins,” English actor and presenter Alexander Armstrong revealed that he once found the handwritten notes in the bathroom of the Queen’s former equerry Sir Blair Stewart-Wilson. They were were framed.

“He would write these letters from their Jack Russell to the corgis, and the Queen would write these letters back,” Armstrong explained, according to The Telegraph. “And they put this series of letters up, and they are so funny. I wish I could remember them.”

The actor went on to say that the notes were so “wickedly funny” that he was forced to hold his stomach since he was laughing so hard!

Two puppies joined the family in March: a dorgi, which is a corgi-dachshund mix, called Fergus, named after her late uncle who died during World War I in 1915 Fergus Bowes-Lyon. And, a corgi called Muick, named after Loch Muick on the Queen’s beloved summer escape, Balmoral estate in Scotland.

She Is Very Different In Private Than In Public

Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith had previously told People Magazine that while the Queen is stoic much of the time, she is “much livelier in private than what the public sees.”

She added that one source at the Queen’s Norfolk estate in the country told her, “‘You can hear her laugh throughout that big house.’ She has a big laugh!”

The Queen also does not take herself nearly as seriously as people would think, as she can be shockingly self-deprecating.

Soon after her son Prince Charles married Princess Diana in 1981, a rerun of the wedding came on during a party that the Queen was attending in London.

“The Queen said, ‘Oh, there’s my Miss Piggy face,'” Bedell Smith remembered. “She has the ability to laugh at herself.”

The Queen’s Hilarious Photoshoot

The Queen also showed off her fun side during a photoshoot with photographer Barry Jeffrey for her Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

During this shoot, the Queen shocked Jeffrey by telling him to “just keep the camera rolling!” as she proceeded to strike a “series of poses, slipping her hands in and out of her pockets and placing them onto her hips, mimicking the stances of a professional model,” according to her dress maker and close friend Angela Kelly.

Kelly added that she and Jeffrey stood “in disbelief. The Queen was a natural…Barry and I felt we were experiencing something really special: a moment never to be repeated.”

This just goes to show that the Queen really is only human. And, she has many facets to her personality, as we all do.

It’s so fun to get to hear about the quirky side of the Queen that she typically only shows off behind closed doors!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
