Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream put their scoops down for a minute to push for dismantling white supremacy after Daunte Wright was shot and killed by a police officer in a Minneapolis suburb.
The wealthy white liberal men who have made their millions peddling ice cream believe Wright’s death was caused by white supremacy.
Ben and Jerry’s is calling for police departments to be dismantled and another system rebuilt in its place to combat this.
Claims Of White Supremacy
“The murder of #DaunteWright is rooted in white supremacy and results from the intentional criminalization of Black and Brown communities,” the company tweeted. “This system can’t be reformed. It must be dismantled and a real system of public safety rebuilt from the ground up.”

Daunte Wright was shot and killed by a veteran police officer at a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center.
Officer Kim Potter, who was on the force for 26 years, intended to use her taser but instead grabbed her gun. The tragic mistake cost Wright his life. And, Potter has since resigned.
The Brooklyn Center police chief has stated Wright’s death was a result of an “accidental discharge.”
The fact that Potter is a woman prevented Ben and Jerry’s from bashing their own gender. They could not blame it on white male supremacy.
Consequences Of Defunding The Police
Lyndsey Fifield of The Heritage Foundation replied to Ben and Jerry’s by pointing out that scaling back on police last year didn’t work very well for many communities.
Cities that reeled in their police department are now fighting higher crime.
And yet cities that defunded the police last year are scrambling to find them again following massive spikes in crime https://t.co/R2Fg9HsClf

Riots broke out in Minneapolis following the news of the shooting.
Ben and Jerry did not appear to be concerned about the lawlessness or destruction of property taking place.
This isn’t Ben and Jerry’s first time demanding to Defund The Police.
Ben and Jerry’s Promotes Social Justice Causes
The sweet treat brand also promoted the leftwing cause last year as riots broke out across the country following George Floyd’s death.
The ice cream company has not been shy about promoting social justice causes.
While others may fear boycotts, it is part of their brand. They even teamed up with Colin Kaepernick to create a new flavor of ice cream.

Honestly though, couldn't Ben & Jerry's at least name a flavor after a black or brown person? They have them named after Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews, and Phish–basically the whitest people in America. https://t.co/DZX4H1rT5i

And, some are pointing out that Ben & Jerry’s has always been political:
Lol people are mad about Ben and Jerry's politics again.
Bros they've been political since their inception, and they're two weed-smokin hippies. Their political leanings should not be a surprise to anyone, lol.

LMAO you’re just now realizing the politics of Ben and Jerry’s?? Good job, hon. They’ve always been lefties and bless them for standing up for human rights.
