Washington Football Team Cheerleaders

The Washington Football Team has been without a name since ditching the Redskins. Now, they are without cheerleaders and are steering things into a more politically correct, “gender neutral” and “inclusive” direction. However, not everyone is thrilled.

In 2020, the Redskins name was abandoned for a generic one that was thought to be less offensive.

While the team expects to rebrand with a new name in 2022, they are making other changes on the sidelines. Known as the “First Ladies of Football,” Washington’s cheerleaders are now gone and a co-ed dance team will replace them.

First Ladies Of Football Cheerleaders Since 1962

Washington’s NFL Team has had cheerleaders since 1962. Seeing them cheer at games has been a longstanding tradition.

At least 36 dancers will be hired and current cheerleaders are permitted to try out for the woke new version of their old jobs.

However, cheerleader fans are trying to reverse this decision.

There is a goal of 35,000 signatures on a petition demanding the First Ladies of Football to be saved.

As of this writing, over 34,000 people have signed.

Tradition is a big part of football. And, by changing the team name and ditching the cheerleaders, Washington ultimately might find its bottom line affected.

Petra Pope will head up the new dance team. She formerly led the Laker Girls and has spent 33 years working in NBA Entertainment.

Now, she’s bringing her game to the sidelines of the NFL.

Washington’s “Gender-Neutral” Dance Team

“Fans can expect an experience like none other – a gender-neutral and diverse squad of athletes and dancers whose choreography, costumes, props, tricks and stunts will rival the best entertainment across genres, and really inspire and ‘wow’ our fans,” Pope said in a Washington Football Team statement.

“With that comes inclusivity, diversity and in my mind, as an entertainer, athleticism,” Pope also said. “My desire is to create a team that is all of that — inclusive, diverse, coed, athletic — to set the gold standard in the NFL. We’re looking for that super athlete that can dance, perform tricks and stunts and manipulate whatever props that will create a really great show.”

But, the booted cheerleaders aren’t taking too kindly to being shown the door. One of the Washington cheerleaders has been tweeting about her disappointment.

If the politically correct woke class is actually concerned with women, shouldn’t their opinions matter too?
