UFC 259: Which Title Fight Has The Most Interest Going Into Saturday?

Three UFC championship matches are scheduled for this Saturday at UFC 259.

But does one stand out above the other two?

The event takes place from the UFC Apex, streaming live on ESPN+ pay-per-view. Prelims will air on ESPN+, UFC Fight Pass and ESPN and include some fun bouts including Dominick Cruz and Joseph Benavidez in action.

But all the lights are pointed towards the triple-main event with the UFC light heavyweight, women’s featherweight and bantamweight belts on the line.

In the main event, Jan Blachowicz takes on Israel Adesanya. Blachowicz will be defending his 205-pound belt against the reigning middleweight champion.

After Jon Jones vacated the strap, the UFC put Blachowicz and Dominick Reyes together to crown a new champion. In the second round, Blachowicz finished Reyes, cementing his fourth consecutive win in the process. 

Adesanya has dominated the middleweight ranks since claiming the title. Now, he challenges himself by bumping up to seek a second gold belt for around his waist.

Amanda Nunes already knows what that feels like as she is the reigning UFC women’s featherweight and bantamweight champion. Megan Anderson will be her next challenge, and it should be quite the exciting fight.

Nunes has not lost since a 2014 defeat to Cat Zingano, dominating women’s MMA since with wins over Miesha Tate, Ronda Rousey, Valentina Shevchenko, Holly Holm and Cris Cyborg.

Anderson has gone 3-2 since signing with the UFC including a tough three-round decision loss to Holm. She has finished each of her last two fights.

The third and final championship bout pits reigning bantamweight titleholder Petr Yan against top contender Aljamain Sterling. 

Yan and Sterling have done the best in the build to the fight, trading barbs back and forth. This one could end early or go 25 minutes and leave a “Fight of the Year” contender on the table.
