‘Scream’ Star Jamie Kennedy Defiantly Blasts Cancel Culture

Cancel culture is something that has been strongly embraced by the radical liberals of Hollywood to the point where people are being cancelled left and right for the slightest of infractions. This week, however, comedian Jamie Kennedy of Scream fame defied Hollywood to speak out against cancel culture.

Before we get into that, check out one of Kennedy’s most iconic Scream scenes below.

Kennedy Talks Cancel Culture

While promoting his new movie Last Call, Kennedy opened up about his feelings on cancel culture.

“It’s a dicey time. I mean, let’s take [a] recent example… Pepé Le Pew. I mean, if we put a magnifying glass to everything in history, I will assure you with the new guard you can almost cancel everything. So it’s a matter of nuances and context,” the 50 year-old star explained.

“Does a cartoon have real-world implications? Yes, if enough people consume it, they believe that is a law. But the question is, do you believe a skunk can talk, and do you believe a skunk buys flowers for a cat?” Kennedy added, going on to point out that individuals need to have “personal responsibility” as well.

“Do you have enough common sense to understand that you’re not going to take your love and your sex lessons from a cartoon skunk?” the comedian said.

‘It’s A Scary Time’

Though he said he’s “all about the convo,” Kennedy admitted that, “It’s a scary time [and] at some point you’ve got to live, right? It’s like there’s no forgiveness anymore.”

As for writing his own comedy, Kennedy said that he feels lucky to have the chance to be people’s “escapism” for the night.

“I do notice when I’ve done some shows that people want to laugh and they’ve had, you know, not everyone’s fortunate. I mean, I’m very fortunate,” he said. “So my job to me is if I can make you feel better for 25 minutes, so be it. It’s a pleasure for me to be able to do that. It’s important to have an honest relationship with the audience because then they trust you.”

Kennedy Discusses Working With Bruce Dern

Kennedy’s costar in Last Call is the legendary Hollywood star Bruce Dern. In this same interview, Kennedy revealed the advice that Dern gave him on set.

“[Bruce] is never false on camera, you know. He always finds the moment and goes with it. So I think one of his biggest pieces of wisdom is just never, never, never try in a scene and just let it happen. If you’re in the moment, you’ll never be false,” Kennedy recounted. “That’s what one of the biggest takeaways I got from him.”

Unlike many stars, Kennedy actually has a good head on his shoulders.

We could certainly use more celebrities like him!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
