Rumors About Selleck Leaving ‘Blue Bloods’

Country Living reported that fans started seeing ads online in January claiming that 76-year-old Tom Selleck would be leaving “Blue Bloods” and retiring from acting.

Thankfully, Snopes has since confirmed that this was all a scam. And, there were no truth to these rumors after all.

“Further, there had been no announcement by any reputable group that Selleck was leaving Blue Bloods, nor did he issue any final words before leaving the stage forever,”  Snopes said. “In the past, a number of popular blogs had published stories about when he might leave the series. However, most of those articles were speculation.”

Selleck Discusses ‘Blue Bloods’

Though “Blue Bloods” has been on since 2010, Selleck himself said last May that he does not see the show ending anytime soon.

“I don’t think there is an endpoint,” he told People Magazine. “I think there is a lot of life in the show, as long as you let your characters grow and get older.”

Selleck went on to say that the cast of “Blue Bloods” has become like a family, and that he treasures his time on set with them.

“Our dinner party scenes are like a reunion of friends,” Selleck said. “Sometimes it’s hard for the directors to get us to concentrate. We do the work, and we do it well, but we’re also screwing around and kidding each other and catching up. What we have is truly a blessing.”

Selleck’s Life On His Ranch

When Selleck isn’t filming “Blue Bloods,” he can usually be found on his 65-acre ranch in Hidden Valley, California.

He’s lived and worked on this ranch since 1988 with his wife of 33 years, Jillie Mack.

“I get up before Jillie and put on the teakettle, so when she gets up, her tea water is hot,” Selleck recently told Closer Weekly. “I think I’m pretty romantic.”

When “Blue Bloods” finally does come to an end someday, Selleck will undoubtedly enjoy devoting more of his time to his beloved wife and his ranch.

“Relationships are tricky, but if you are in love with somebody and like them, you’ve got a chance at success,” Selleck said. “You become true partners.”

We’re glad to see that Selleck is a true class act offscreen just like many of the characters he has portrayed.

We could certainly use more stars in Hollywood like him!
