Billy Brown, patriarch of the Brown family, died unexpectedly on February 7th after having a seizure.
Last night, fans of “Alaskan Bush People” were treated to a special tribute episode that shows the family working towards overcoming their grief by honoring their beloved patriarch.
Less Than A Month Since Billy Brown’s Sudden Death
The longstanding Discovery show has given us a front row seat to the Brown family’s life over the past few years.
Ami had a touch-and-go battle with lung cancer a few years ago, but Billy didn’t have any known life threatening health issues.
His death was a shock not just to fans but to his children and wife as well.

The touching episode, titled “The Legacy of Billy Brown,” had some flashback video of Billy interspersed with comments from his family. They look back on Brown’s of adventure and love for the Wolfpack. And, they share what they’ll miss most about their late father.
A particularly heart-rending moment was when Billy gave Snowbird a gift for her birthday.
“I’ve carried this in my pocket for almost 30 years,” Billy told his daughter as he handed her a knife. “This thing has brought home meat when almost nothing would.”
“There’s a lot of brothers,” he continued. “There’s only one of you.”
It was followed by her recognizing how happy her father was to be in the bush.
She recognizes that she will forever think of her father whenever she is in the woods or near animals.
Part Of The Bush
“The part of being in the bush and being with the animals and in the woods is like, dad is a part of that,” she lovingly says in the clip below.

Billy Bush raised his children to be independent. He wanted them to be able to survive without him and now they must do exactly that.
“I’ve tried to give them a basis of basically what they need and then I’ve backed up and left them alone,” Billy Brown said in a clip during the show. “They don’t give up when they feel, they just keep doing it until they get it right. It’s been our philosophy our whole life for the guys.”
The tribute episode was packed with comments from the Brown children who were suddenly left without their father.

Bear Brown Remembers Billy
“One of my favorite things to do with Dad when we’d go out and we’d hunt together, was just sitting there in a blind and waiting or stalking through the woods,” Bear said. “I will always remember that about my dad and I will greatly miss the times we had and the times we won’t have again. But it will always be in my heart and I will always cherish those memories.”

He also wrote, “He lived his life on his terms, off the grid and off the land and taught us to live like that as well. We plan to honor his legacy going forward, and to continue with his dream. We ask for privacy and prayers during this painful time. God Bless Everyone!”
What a tragic loss for this family who shared so much of themselves with their fans.
This special tribute, “The Legacy of Billy Brown,” was a wonderful way for the family to honor the ‘leader of the pack.’
