Brandon Soules

A 19-year-old Arizona man faked his own kidnapping to get out of work. In record time, he found himself out of a job and is also facing jail time. Even Jussie Smollet’s fake hate crime stood up longer than this guy’s story.

Found On Side Of The Road With Both Hands Bound

On February 10th, Brandon Soules was found by Coolidge police with both hands bound behind his back and a bandana stuffed in his mouth.

Soules told the officers he was outside his home when two masked men hit him in the head. Then they shoved him into their vehicle.

He claimed they drove him around for a while before dumping him near the town’s water cooler. Soules said the kidnapping was prompted by the fact that his father had hidden money somewhere around town.

It was alarming to hear that masked men had kidnapped someone in the small Arizona city.

But, his story really didn’t add up to scrutiny.

Surveillance footage didn’t corroborate the story. When he was questioned, he admitted that he made up the kidnapping to get out going to his automotive repair job at The Tire Factory.

“He informed us that he at first stuffed a bandana in his mouth, and afterwards, he took off his own belt and bound his hands,” a local police officer said. “[Then] he laid on the ground and scooted out near the side of the road where somebody could see him.”

Fired After Faking Kidnapping

Like Jussie Smollet, Soules got caught. At least the Arizona teen had the sense not to involve other people in his scheme or make it political.

Even though calling in sick to work is a typical excuse for skipping a day, Brandon Soules took this to a whole other level by getting the police involved.

It’s hard to imagine how much effort went into concocting this scheme.

Not only did he have to work at attempting to pull this off, but he forced the police to investigate a fake crime.

It would have been less work if he had just shown up for his job.

A week after attempting to play hooky, Soules was arrested and charged with filing a false police report.

He was successful with getting out of work as this scheme got him fired from his job.
