Dustin Poirier recorded the biggest win of his career tonight at UFC 257, by taking out Conor McGregor in thrilling fashion.

Poirier avenges loss in emphatic fashion

The decorated lightweights battled in the card’s main event, in what marked the second time the two had fought. In 2014, McGregor quickly finished Poirier with a series of punches.

Leading up to tonight’s card, McGregor had predicted he would put on a masterpiece and finish Poirier within 60 seconds. While McGregor threatened with some big shots early on, Poirier countered the star nicely with wrestling and leg kicks.

In round two, as McGregor pressed forward and fired big lefts, Poirier caught him with a series of hard shots. As McGregor tried to recover, Poirier put the former champ on the deck with more punches, and the fight was called.

After the bout, McGregor said he would be back. For weeks prior to the event, UFC President Dana White had made it clear the promotion hoped to book a rematch between Khabib Nurmagomedov and McGregor.
