Queen Elizabeth fun

Queen Elizabeth is typically thought of as a stoic figure who is the epitome of what it means to be prim and proper.

That’s why it’s come as somewhat of a surprise to learn that the 94-year-old monarch has a wild sense of humor and loves making fun of herself behind the palace doors according to a renowned royal biographer.

The Queen’s Wild Sense Of Humor

Sally Bedell Smith, author of “Elizabeth the Queen: The Life of a Modern Monarch,” told People Magazine that the Queen “is much livelier in private than what the public sees.”

Bedell Smith added that a source at Norfolk, Sandringham, the Queen’s country estate, once told her of the monarch, “‘You can hear her laugh throughout that big house.’ She has a big laugh!”

Believe it or not, the Queen actually doesn’t take herself seriously at all, as those close to her know her to be very self-deprecating.

Just after her son Prince Charles married Princess Diana in 1981, a rerun of the wedding was played at a party the Queen was attending in London.

Bedell Smith recalled that upon spotting herself onscreen, “The Queen said, ‘Oh, there’s my Miss Piggy face.’ She has the ability to laugh at herself.”

Queen Elizabeth Has Silly Photoshoot

The Queen is often seen as deadly serious in official photos, but that doesn’t mean she can’t have some fun, too.

Her dressmaker and close confidante Angela Kelly remembered a photo shoot the Queen took part in when celebrating her Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

During this shoot, the Queen reportedly told photographer Barry Jeffrey to “just keep the camera rolling!” as she proceeded to do something quite shocking.

Kelly said that the Queen struck a “series of poses, slipping her hands in and out of her pockets and placing them onto her hips, mimicking the stances of a professional model.”

She added that everyone stood “in disbelief. The Queen was a natural. Barry and I felt we were experiencing something really special: a moment never to be repeated.”

However, the Queen is most comfortable around her animals, particularly her horses.

“She goes into a peaceful mode when she is with horses,” explained her close friend and equine adviser Monty Roberts.

Quarantine ‘Only Slight Rest She’s Ever Had In Her Whole Life’

While the coronavirus pandemic has been difficult for everyone, sources close to the Queen say that there may have been some benefits from quarantine for her.

“In her twilight years, I’m sure it is quite lovely not to have the pressure” said one insider, referring to her typical busy calendar.

“It is possible this is the only slight rest she’s ever had in her whole life,” added another source close to the Queen. “She is well. She’s in good fettle.”

It’s so fun to see a side of the Queen that we rarely get a glimpse of!

We hope that she has enjoyed the rest that she’s had over the past few months, and that she can resume normal life as soon as possible.
