Larry King’s Widow Reveals His Cause Of Death And Final Words To Her

Larry King’s wife has revealed the longtime television host’s cause of death and his final words. The CNN fixture was previously diagnosed with COVID-19 but that isn’t want ended the 87-year-old’s life last weekend.

Shawn and Larry King were married for 22 years. The talk show host was married eight times to seven different women. His marriage to Shawn was his longest and they had two sons, Chance and Cannon.

King was also a two-time cancer survivor; he battled prostate cancer in 1999 and lung cancer in 2017.

COVID-19 Diagnosis

When King died, a cause was not released. Since he had been diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier in the month, many assumed that was the cause. But, his widow explains that it was not.

“It was an infection, it was sepsis,” wife Shawn King said. “Well, he was finally ready to go, I will tell you that. You know, he never wanted to go but his sweet little body was just, it had just been hit so many times with so many things and once we heard the word COVID, all of our hearts just sunk. But he beat it, you know, he beat it, but it did take its toll and then the unrelated infection finally is what took him, but boy, he was not gonna go down easily.”

“His mind wasn’t right, and his body was going, and so that was hard to witness because Larry as we know him is the guy that goes, ‘Come on, let’s go, you’re late, get out of here,'” the widow told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s always, ‘You’re late.”

“We were able to do FaceTime in the hospital and it was hard for him to talk, but the one message that he wanted to make sure I heard was, ‘I love you, take care of the boys,'” Shawn reports.

Larry And Shawn King’s Divorce Was Never Finalized

Shawn King was shocked when Larry filed for divorce in August 2019. The pair never finalized it and remained married. Larry’s illness brought the family even closer together.

“Larry and I, you know, we never finalized our divorce,” the widow said. “In my heart, I didn’t think it was really going to happen and it never did. We were partners in every sense of the way, in business, and in, well, first in our family and then in business. But we’re a close family. You know, family is the most important thing, and God.”

Here’s a look back at Larry through the years:

Rest in peace Larry.
