Jane Fonda To Be Given Award At Golden Globes For Her ‘Unrelenting Activism’

Hollywood actor Jane Fonda is set to be honored with the Golden Globes’ version of a lifetime achievement award this year. She’ll be given the Cecil B. deMille Award in part for her “unrelenting activism.”

Fonda To Be Given Cecil B. deMille Award

The Cecil B. DeMille Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). It’s given to recipients to honor their “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.”

In announcing that Fonda, 83, was being given the award this year, however, HFPA President Ali Sar made a point of saying that one of the reasons that she was chosen for the honor this year was her “unrelenting activism.”

“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association takes great pride in bestowing the 2021 Cecil B. DeMille Award to Jane Fonda,” Sar said, according to The Hollywood Reporter [6]. “For more than five decades, Jane’s breadth of work has been anchored in her unrelenting activism, using her platform to address some of the most important social issues of our time.”

“Her undeniable talent has gained her the highest level of recognition, and while her professional life has taken many turns, her unwavering commitment to evoking change has remained,” Sar added. “We are honored to celebrate her achievements at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards.”

Let’s Talk About Fonda’s ‘Unrelenting Activism’

Fonda has been working in Hollywood for 61 years, earning two Academy Awards during her lengthy career. She won Best Actress for Klute (1972) and Coming Home (1979). She’s also won 7 Golden Globe awards.

Off the screen, however, she’s long been infamous for being a radically liberal activist who was given the nickname Hanoi Jane during the Vietnam War when she travelled to North Vietnam and gleefully posed for photos next to an anti-aircraft gun that had been used to kill American servicemen.

She has apologized [8] for this many times over the years, admitting that it was “horrible” to think about the message that her actions sent to American troops.

Many Vietnam veterans, however, will never forget or forgive the actions that earned her that nickname.

In recent years, Fonda has focused her radical activism efforts on climate change, proudly getting arrested [9] multiple times in 2019 during her weekly environmental protests at the U.S. Capitol that were dubbed her “Fire Drill Fridays.”

She was also unsurprisingly very anti-Trump, going so far as to say in October that the coronavirus pandemic that has killed millions of people all over the word was “God’s gift to the left” because it would help them get Donald Trump voted out of office.

Fonda Doesn’t Deserve This Award

The fact that Fonda is being given a lifetime achievement award partly for her “unrelenting activism” is truly sickening.

This is a woman who has disrespected American war veterans in the worst way possible. And, she is so radically liberal that she sees a deadly pandemic as a good thing, as long as it removes a Republican like Trump from power.

Fonda being chosen for this award says everything about how out of touch Hollywood really is with the rest of America today.
