Former UFC champion Conor McGregor returned to the Octagon Saturday night at UFC 257.
The decision did not go in favor of “Notorious,” as he was knocked out by Dustin Poirier in the second round.
McGregor, who had not competed since a win last January over Donald Cerrone, took to social media to release a statement following the loss.
“Thanks for the support everyone!” he wrote. “Was not my night/morning in there but a great contest to improve on. I’m excited at the blockbuster trilogy I now have on my hands.
“Dustin is a hell of a competitor and I look forward to going again. God bless us all.”
McGregor scored a win in the first meeting between the two fighters.
