UFC Vegas 17 was another, UFC card that’s been hit by COVID-19 in recent weeks. But, in advance of the December 19th event, the promotion’s shared out the new poster, which features longtime welterweight contender Stephen Thompson and the rising, Geoff Neal.
Thompson versus Neal
Thompson, or ‘Wonderboy’ and Neal, or ‘Handz of Steel’ were moved into the main event spot, after Leon Edwards was forced off the card due to COVID-19. Edwards was originally booked to fight Khamzat Chimaev.
Neal (13-2) has won five straight bouts since graduating to the UFC from Dana White’s Contender Series. In his last fight, last December, he took out Mike Perry.
Thompson (15-4-1) hasn’t fought since last November, when he outscored Vicente Luque for the decision win. The perennial contender is 2-3 in his last five bouts.
