Leon Edwards

UFC officials have been busy as usual in recent days, working on cards for this month and beyond. That includes finding a new main event after the planned Leon Edwards-Khamzat Chimaev fight was scrapped.

Edwards and Chimaev, a rising prospect, were scheduled to meet in the main event on December 19. However, Edwards has since tested positive for the novel coronavirus and is off.

Officials are working to re-schedule the contest for early 2021.

In other fight news, the same December event is expected to receive a new headline fight pitting Stephen Thompson against Geoff Neal.

Also, Anthony Pettis and Alex Morono are on track to square off December 19 at the UFC Fight Night event.

The annual Super Bowl Weekend UFC card has received a fun bout. Clay Guida and Michael Johnson will square off against one another.

Warlley Alves, who owns a win over former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington, is set to meet Christian Aguilera. The fight would be part of the January 16 show.

Beneil Dariush and Diego Ferreira have been linked to a February 6 card. The bout would be a rematch between the two.

A female contest between Sabina Mazo and Alexis Davis is planned for February 27 with Joseph Benavidez and Askar Askarov in the works for March 6 at UFC 259.

Also at UFC 259, Randy Costa and Trevin Jones are scheduled to face off.
