Jack Hermansson, not surprisingly, did not emerge from his five-battle with Marvin Vettori unscathed, as the middleweight contender’s confirmed he sustained two injuries at UFC Vegas 16.

Hermansson confirms injuries in post-fight statement

The renowned grappler took on Vettor in the headliner of Saturday’s card. Although Hermansson showed a ton of heart, and get attacking throughout the contest, Vettori outstruck him by a wide margin.

According to UFC Stats, after 25 minutes, Vettori had landed 202 strikes to Hermansson’s 139.

Well, following his decision loss, the Swedish born, Norwegian fighter released the statement below.

“Broken toe and broken eye socket but not a broken spirit,” Hermansson wrote in an Instagram post. “The goal remains the same! Thank you for your support.”

What’s next?

Hopefully, ‘The Joker’ has a full and speedy recovery. Hermansson (21-6) was ranked #4 in the UFC’s middleweight division heading into the contest. So it will be interesting to see who he faces next.

Maybe we’ll see him matched up against another contender who is coming off a loss. What about Edmen Shahbazyan?
