Dr. Anthony Fauci, America’s leading expert on infectious diseases, decided to show his Christmas spirit this week by sharing his expert opinion on whether Santa Claus himself will come down with COVID-19 this holiday season.
Santa Claus Is Immune To COVID, Fauci Says
“Santa is exempt from this because Santa, of all the good qualities, has a lot of good innate immunity,” Fauci told USA Today.
This will come as good news to millions of children who are eagerly awaiting presents from Santa on Christmas morning!
As we all know, Santa spends the night before Christmas flying his sleigh all over the world to deliver presents down the chimneys of good little boys and girls.
Given the fact that Santa is older and overweight (some would say, at least), his chances of having complications from COVID-19 are higher than the average person.
So it’s relief to hear the jolly old elf himself is immune from the pandemic that’s been wreaking havoc around the world!
“Santa is not going to be spreading any infections to anybody,” Dr. Fauci continued.

Other Experts Weigh In On Santa’s COVID Status
Other experts have also said that Santa has been taking coronavirus seriously, to include practicing social distancing and making fewer public appearances.
Like many of us, he’s been making more calls on Zoom, and greatly decreased his number of visits to stores and malls.
“Santa does not want the kids to line up waiting to see him because he doesn’t want to spread germs. Santa gets sad if the kids or their families are sick,” explained Dr. Gina Song, a pediatrician at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital.
“So this year, Santa will be watching you from afar, giving you the gift of good health and will only visit when no one is around on Christmas Eve.”
Dr. Peter Hotez, dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, said that he is hoping that Santa will get vaccinated for COVID-19 as soon as a vaccine is made available.
“I hear the ventilation in Santa’s workshop is not the best, and opening windows in North Pole winters problematic,” Hotez said.
“The good news is that mask compliance there is pretty good, and the elves are committed to social distancing. Mrs. Claus has implemented a program of regular testing and the reindeers now lead contact tracing.”

Mayo Clinic Reports Two Infections In North Pole Among Elves
Thankfully, the North Pole has managed to keep infections under control so far.
Dr. Greg Poland, director of the Mayo Clinic’s Vaccine Research Group, said he recently had a phone call with the North Pole and learned that while there were two infections among the elves, “none of them serious,” he said.
“It was a good reminder to the elves about wearing the mask properly,” Poland said. “They now do that. It’s mandatory in the North Pole.”
After all the world has been through this year, we could use some Christmas cheer. And this was just the good news that we needed!
Let’s hope that Santa Claus and his elves continue to stay clear of COVID so that he can continue to deliver presents as he normally would!
