Black Lives Matter Takes Aim At ‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’

Black Lives Matter activists are taking aim at the Peanuts classic "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" by Charles Schulz to suggest its racist.

Black Lives Matter activists are joining up with the PC police to take aim at a holiday favorite – A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. There is outrage from social justice warriors because Franklin is sitting alone on one side of the Thanksgiving table. They now believe that classic Peanuts along with its creator Charles Schulz, which have long been seen as inclusive, are suddenly racist.

The issue is a just a still from the beloved special. Linus and Marcy are at the heads of the table. Charlie Brown is sitting on one side of the table with Sally, Peppermint Patty, and Snoopy while Franklin is in the sole chair on the opposite side.

Charges Of Racism Against Charlie Brown

This isn’t the first time that this Peanuts special has had charges of racism.

This first started a handful of years ago. It is getting interest again this year because of the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and riots.

The political correctness social justice warriors have torn down statues, tried to erase the Founding Fathers for not living up to today’s standards, and they are are now coming for what has always been viewed as a wholesome cartoon.

Explanation For Franklin Sitting Alone

As National Review points out, there is a simple explanation why Charlie Brown is sitting on the crowded side of the table while Franklin is alone.

Snoopy is Charlie Brown’s dog, so it makes sense that they would be seated at the same side of the table. Sally has a crush on Linus, so it makes sense that they would be seated near each other. Peppermint Patty has a crush on Charlie Brown, so it makes sense that she would want to sit next to him. Finally, Sally is Charlie’s sister, so it makes sense that they would be seated next to each other. Also, it’s not like Franklin is the only character who is sitting on one side of the table by himself. In fact, both Marcy and Linus (both of whom are white) are also sitting on sides of the table on their own. Are their sides of the table shorter than Franklin’s? Sure, but that doesn’t mean that this is racism — especially when there is another, completely racially irrelevant explanation for the seating arrangement.

It’s also important to note that Peanuts creator Charles Schulz was anything but racist.

In fact, following Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination, he added Franklin character.

This was long before there were cries for diversity in entertainment, particularly in cartoons. Charles Schulz did this of his own accord.

Yet, that isn’t enough for the outrage brigade.

Franklin was an accepted part of the Peanuts crew. This appears to be an example of no good deed going unpunished.
