Khamzat Chimaev hasn’t been booked for his next fight yet, but the rising star is clearly, keeping busy this week in Abu Dhabi. Case in point, recently the Chechen-born, Swedish fighter had a little tussle with the legendary, Daniel Cormier.

Cormier notes how “strong” Chimaev is

The 26-year-old has taken the MMA world by storm since Chimaev made UFC history this past July, by winning two fights in just 10 days. In his last bout, just last month, Chimaev KO’d middleweight Gerald Meerschaert in just 17 seconds.

Well, Chimaev is in Abu Dhabi this week to attend the last Fight Island event, as is Cormier. Recently the video clip was shared out, which documents the welterweight/middleweight doing a little wrestling with the former light heavyweight and heavyweight champ.

Chimaev’s next fight?

On account of Chimaev’s runt so far in the UFC, Dana White has said the promotion wants to book him against a contender, and in a main event. So far, however, no bout has been booked.

While talking to the media this week, Chimaev was asked for an update on his next fight, and he said this (quote via MMA Junkie).

“I don’t know. I’m waiting for somebody,” Chimaev said. “We will see. Many guys, they say ‘he’s not top 10, nobody knows him.’ Everybody talks about me.

How can they say that, that nobody knows me? I think these guys are scared. I call (expletive). …

“For me, it doesn’t matter. I wanna fight. I love to fight. The belt is coming. What are they gonna do? I finish all my opponents They have to give me this belt.”

Veterans like Alex Oliveira, Neil Magny and most recently Chris Weidman have all said they’re down to fight Chimaev. Darren Till also has reportedly said he’d fight Chimaev, but the British middleweight is booked to fight Jack Hermansson on December 5th.
