Uriah Hall

Uriah Hall stopped Anderson Silva from returning to the win column tonight, in what may have been his last UFC bout, as he took out the legend at  UFC Vegas 12.

Round one

Hall moved forward right out of the gate but neither man threw anything in the first minute. 90 seconds in they exchanged leg kicks. Silva started to loosen up and fire more often a couple of minutes in. Hall fired a headkick that Silva blocked and followed up with a hook. Silva started pressing forward behind combos but Hall emerged unscathed. Silva fired a spin kick to the thigh after a series of feints. Hall planted a couple of nice jabs. Silva flurried in but ate a counter before the frame ended.

Round two

Silva just missed with a front kick not long into the round and remained the busier of the two. Hall picked up the pace around 90 seconds in but Silva returned fire with kicks. Silva spun with a kick but took a counter right. Action slowed with two minutes left and Silva eventually scored with a couple more leg kicks. Hall partially landed a spinning kick to the body. Moments later Hall planted a hard jab. Close round.

Round three

Round three saw more of the same, with both men not coming with too much volume. Hall did score with a couple of nice jabs, and not long after, he fired a head kick that Silva blocked. The latter continued to do a lot of feinting but wasn’t throwing much. Moments later he missed with a spinning kick to the body. Both fighters started firing more strikes late in the frame and Silva scored with a hard hook. Silva pressed Hall to the cage and planted a couple of foot stomps.

Late in the round, Hall sent Silva to the deck with a booming right, and he tagged the legend several more times before the horn went.

Round four

Silva had some marking by his left eye to begin the frame. Moments in, Hall dropped a charging Silva with a massive right. Hall pounded in a couple more right hands and that was it. Wow.

Hall started weeping after the win and could be heard telling Silva he loved him and that “I’m so sorry”. The two had a lengthy talk and moment.

During his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, Silva, said he’s not sure if he’s going to retire, after inferring it was his last fight with the UFC.
