UFC 254 Results: Khabib Walks Away From MMA Perfect

If this was the final time we see Khabib Nurmagomedov inside the Octagon, we will never forget it.

Nurmagomedov submitted Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 254 Saturday, unifying the lightweight titles in the process.

In the post-fight interview, the unbeaten fighter announced he was retiring from the sport.

It’s been a difficult year for Nurmagomedov. He lost his battle after a bout with COVID-19, but vowed to compete at least this once more.

There has been speculation and talk that a super-fight with Georges St-Pierre could be made, but that appears to be off the table for now. Along with any future rematch vs. Conor McGregor.

Nurmagomedov secured a triangle choke on Gaethje in the second round, ending the contest at that moment. He stands a perfect 29-0 in his career including recent wins over Dustin Poirier, McGregor and Al Iaquinta.

In the co-main event, former champion Robert Whittaker bested Jared Cannonier via decision.

The main card also featured wins by Alexander Volkov, Phil Hawes, Lauren Murphy and Magomed Ankalaev.

On the prelims, Tai Tuivasa, Casey Kenney, Shavkat Rakhmonov, Miranda Maverick and Joel Alvarez were all victorious. Da Un Jung and Sam Alvey battled to a draw.

Nurmagomedov and Ankalaev earned “Performance of the Night” bonuses with “Fight of the Night” going to Kenney and Nathaniel Wood.
