Tyra Banks Tom Bergeron DWTS elimination host

Fans are calling for host Tom Bergeron to be given his job back on “Dancing With The Stars” after his replacement, supermodel Tyra Banks, botched last night’s elimination so badly that her mistake is being compared to the infamous moment Steve Harvey named the wrong winner during the 2015 Miss Universe pageant.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Live Elimination Debacle

Last night’s live episode of “Dancing With The Stars” went off the rails when it came time for host Tyra Banks to name the bottom two couples.

First, she incorrectly announced that “Cheer” coach Monica Aldama and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy were safe for the week.

Then Banks initially claimed that the bottom two were contestants Anne Heche and Keo Motsepe and Vernon Davis and Peta Murgatroyd.

But it quickly became clear that something was off when contestants Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko were left onstage as well. The couple could only stand there in confusion about their fate.

Realizing her mistake, Banks awkwardly called Aldama and Chmerkovskiy back onstage. At that point, she let them know that they actually are in the bottom two with Heche and Motsepe, who were subsequently sent home.

It was utter chaos and confusion on the live show. Contestants and fans alike were left flabberghasted.

Popular DWTS dance pro Val Chmerkovskiy took to Twitter after the show to say that he “just got Steve Harvey’d”. Referring to the infamous moment five years ago when the “Family Feud” host named the wrong winner while hosting the Miss Universe pageant.

DWTS Host Tyra Banks Plays The Blame Game

Instead of taking responsibility for the gaffe, Banks immediately placed blame for the elimination mix-up on the crew. A move that many would argue is classless whether it was their fault or not.

“There has been an error in the control room. This is the craziness of live TV,” Banks said during the live show, according to Fox News. “I’m so sorry. This is live TV.”

Banks’ blaming the control room in the moment lead many viewers to believe she had been fed the wrong information through an earpiece in real-time during the “Dancing With The Stars” elimination. But then her tweet after the show seems to contradict that.

The supermodel’s apology tweet didn’t mention a control room at all. Instead Banks tweeted that the cards she was holding had the wrong name on them.

“Wowzers. Live TV. Wrong name on cards,” Banks wrote. “So challenging to deal with moments like these. But we power through.”

It sounds like someone needs to get her story straight!

Regardless of who was to blame here, fans made it clear on Twitter that this was the last straw when for Banks in their eyes.

She was already on thin ice with them for replacing fan favorites Tom Bergeron and his cohost Erin Andrews who were unexpectedly fired in July.

Plus her frequent mistakes on the “Dancing With The Stars” live shows have done her no favors when it comes to winning over the ABC program’s loyal fanbase.

Fans Blast DWTS Host Tyra Banks – Want Tom Bergeron Back

Bring them back!!!! Tom @Tom_Bergeron wouldn’t have screwed up!!!!!!#DWTS you guys ruin a good things by letting go the real hosts they had chemistry. Tyra just pulled a Steve Harvey,” one fan tweeted, with another adding, “so ‘this is live TV’ is @tyrabanks excuse? Tom and Erin would have handled this sooo much better.”

“You know who wouldn’t blame the ‘control room?'” a third fan tweeted alongside a photo of Bergeron.

“Maybe if Tyra didn’t talk so much she wouldn’t have to RUSH the elimination #DWTS,” a fourth fan tweeted.

Another added, “DWTS. Please bring back Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. Tyra Banks sucks, no personality, all about her wardrobe! Downhill this season.

Tom Bergeron, who won Emmys for his stint as host on “Dancing With The Stars”, had hosted the show since its premiere in 2005. Prior to that, he had decades of hosting experience on shows like “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

Unlike Tyra Banks, he’s someone with the experience to roll with the punches of live television. So Bergeron could handle flub like this on live television look effortlessly to the point viewers don’t even realize something is amiss.

“Dancing With The Stars” producers might want to listen to their fans on this one, and consider bringing Tom Bergeron back.

Otherwise, no one will be surprised if the reality show starts hemorrhaging viewers each week.
