Piers Morgan Hammers Media And Big Tech For Bias And Suppression

In an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, firebrand British commentator Piers Morgan calls out the “mainstream media” for suppressing and ignoring the story. The “Good Morning Britain” host took the media and tech giants like Facebook and Twitter to the woodshed over their refusal to cover the recent Biden scandal.

Piers Morgan: Media Is Protecting The Bidens

Tucker Carlson prompts Piers Morgan to take Trump out of the equation and discuss the media’s handling of the bombshell claims involving Hunter Biden’s laptop and potential corruption on the part of his father, then Vice President Joe Biden.

The mounting claims, at face value, are quite troubling. Piers recognizes that this is a huge story and one that the media should be all over as the presidential election draws near.

Thus, he finds it disturbing that mainstream and social media are interfering with the distribution of the story. A story that Americans have a right to know if it’s true.

“It’s not the job of tech giants like Facebook and Twitter to have an instinctive reaction to suppress every element of that story or for most of the mainstream media to say, nothing to see here, in fact, the only story is this terrible smear on the Bidens,” Piers tells Tucker Carlson.

First, Twitter blocked accounts that shared the New York Post’s Hunter Biden story. Later, the social media giant blocked people from tweeting the story at all.

Facebook also suppressed reach of the story. The media attempted to provide cover to Biden rather than allow investigative coverage into the story.

Some tried to call the story a Russian plan. But, the Department of Justice and FBI have both stated the Biden laptop is not part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

Mainstream Media’s Double Standard

Piers then went on to challenge the hypocrisy of the media’s actions:

“And I would say to you Tucker, imagine if we switched the names around. Imagine if the story was about Donald Trump Jr. and Donald Trump. What would be happening? Do you think the tech giants would be suppressing the story? Would the mainstream media be ignoring the story saying it’s all just an unfair smear on the Trumps?”

The “Good Morning Britain” host wasn’t done there.

“If you reverse this, Tucker, it would be a completely different situation and they would all be behaving in a completely different manner,” Piers continued. “This is one of the most extraordinary collective suppressions of freedom of speech that I have ever seen and it’s one of the main themes in my book, is what is going on with liberals frankly, and I consider myself to be one, but what is going on when liberals want to attack and suppress freedom of speech?”

Piers Morgan also points out that the story will not go away if Biden is elected. Maybe then the media will feel comfortable properly reporting on it.

Piers Morgan Doubles Down On Media Bias

Piers Morgan was so disturbed by all of this that he went on to write a column about the media and big tech’s attempt to squash the Biden story

The brazen host even suggests that the Bidens have yet to satisfactorily respond to the claims. These are not the kind of allegations that one just brushes off!

Piers Morgan’s Daily Mail Column On The Hunter Biden Story

He wrote:

It’s hard to imagine a more clear, direct confirmation of the Republicans’ ongoing suspicions that liberal-run social media firms deliberately operate a pro-Democrat agenda.

They were soon joined by the mainstream media who seem way more interested in knocking down the story and unmasking a conspiracy to smear Biden than investigating whether it’s true.

As President Trump was being torched by Savanna[h] Guthrie on NBC about everything from white supremacy to his coronavirus testing record, Biden appeared in an ABC townhall hosted by George Stephanopoulos, ex-aide to Democratic President Bill Clinton, and wasn’t asked a single question about the biggest current story surrounding his candidacy.

Isn’t that quite extraordinary?

Can you imagine if the Post report had been about Donald Trump Jr?

Do you think his father might just have been asked about it, probably repeatedly?

But ABC’s refusal to even mention it in the town hall is indicative of a strange reluctance by most of America’s mainstream media to ‘go there’.

Piers Morgan understands that news is supposed to be reported without bias. Both sides should get the same treatment.

But, that clearly is not the case in modern media when it comes to covering American politics.
