It remains to be seen if Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier end up fighting for a second time. But, according to Nate Diaz, the stars are just “play fighting”.

Diaz takes poke at McGregor – Poirier rematch

Recently there’s been no shortage of talk about the possibility that we’ll see McGregor and Diaz again. Not long ago, McGregor proposed the two fight for charity in Ireland and Poirier said he was on board.

After that happen, UFC President Dana White reported the promotion had sent offers to the fighters for a rematch, in the Octagon. McGregor says he’s down for the rematch, provided it takes place this year.

Well, more recently Diaz jumped into headlines by tweeting out this:

“Let’s don’t get it twisted I already smoked these 2 now they play fighting …”

Poirier responds

Not long after, Poirier proceeded to tell Diaz he’s more than willing to face him at 165 pounds, and that prompted the following response from the Stockton star.

“I’ll whip you there too” Poirier tweeted

“The offer wasn’t for you dumbass Real fighters only. You already lost. And you and your teammate are both fighting your friends. Fake ass fighters” responded Diaz.

Even if you’re a casual MMA fan, you likely know that Diaz fought McGregor twice in 2016, in what were two of the biggest fights in the sport’s history. Diaz submitted the star in the first bout, but lost the rematch via decision.

Poirier and Diaz, however, have never fought. They were expected to fight in 2018 but the bout never took place and the two have verbally sparred about that fact since.
