Matthew McConaughey Dishes Dirt On Hollywood’s Christian Bigotry

Matthew McConaughey stands out as a Hollywood original. He has not allowed fame or fortune or pressure from the entertainment industry to change him or shake his faith. Now, he’s openly discussing Tinseltown’s extreme anti-Christian bias.

Hollywood Christians Often Fear Blacklisting

While a guest on Joe Rogan’s podcast, the Academy Award winner said he knows Christians who have not publicly recognized their faith because they fear being blacklisted. They don’t want to be discriminated against for their religion.

“I have had—and I won’t throw any people under the bus—but I have had moments where I was on stage receiving an award in front of my peers in Hollywood, and there were people in the crowd that I have prayed with before dinners many times, and when I thanked God, I saw some of those people go to clap, but then notice that, ‘bad thing on my resume’ and then sit back on their hands,” the “Dallas Buyers Club” actor said.

“I’ve seen people read the room and go, ‘whoa, that wouldn’t bode well for me in the future,’ if for getting a job or you’re getting votes or what have you,” McConaughey told Rogan. “I have seen that; I’ve witnessed that. … I don’t judge them for it, I just wish, you know—that it seems like a silly argument.”

McConaughey has not succumbed to this anti-Christian pressure and discrimination. He quickly attained A-Lister status before his faith was noticed.

He is quick to state that he defines himself as a religious man rather than saying he is just spiritual, which is how Hollywood downplays someone’s faith.

McConaughey Is “Alright, Alright, Alright” With Jesus

The Texas native does not hide his faith and he refuses to apologize for it. Rather, he credits it for his success and even shares it on social media.

McConaughey understands that the pressure comes from the ‘illiberal’ left, which is “condescending and patronizing” to people who think differently than they do. This isn’t just experienced in Hollywood. Unfortunately, cancel culture has creeped into mainstream society.

He says his religious beliefs are not separate from his belief in science. And, he calls science “the practical pursuit of God.”

McConaughey said:

“The two are not exclusive. They dance together; they go together, belief and science. I never saw those as contradictions.”

McConaughey recently published a book “Greenlights.” It’s a memoir of sorts as he details his life in chronological order; however, McConaughey calls it an “approach book. “
