Israel Adesanya Advises Uriah Hall to be “Basic” Against Anderson Silva

Uriah Hall is booked to fight Anderson Silva at UFC Vegas 12 this Saturday, in what the latter’s said will be his final UFC fight. Well, one man who knows what it’s like to face the legend is Israel Adesanya, who recently outlined how he thinks Hall can stop the star from returning to the win column.

Adesanya advises Hall to be “basic”

After months of speculation as to when Silva will call it quits on his storied career, recently he announced that Saturday’s bout will almost certainly, be his last. As the fight approaches, Silva hasn’t scored a victory since February 2017, when he defeated Derek Brunson by decision.

Since that win, Silva has lost via decision to the aforementioned Adesanya. In the former middleweight champ’s last bout, which took place in May 2019, Silva incurred a leg injury during a TKO loss to Jared Cannonier.

Well, because Adesanya knows what it’s like to battle one of the greatest fighters ever, recently he was asked to weigh-in on Saturday’s bout. While discussing what Hall needs to do to get by Silva, Adesanya said this (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“I just want to watch something crazy, because I think Uriah is gonna bring all that. Uriah should be basic and he can win this fight, but Anderson is crafty,” Adesanya said.

“I’ve been in there with him, I’ve watched him for years and he can win this fight quite easily. He might even stop Uriah but, I’m telling you, if Uriah just sticks to basics he might give him problems, but this is fighting.”

It’s going to be fascinating to see how this fight unfolds. Due to the striking abilities of both, there’s no question this fight has the potential to be a barn burner. Even if Silva is now 45 and not the force he once was.

If Silva does come out with a lot of unorthodox techniques, feints and showboating, and if Hall gets drawn into all that, then ya, you could see “The Spider” catching him.

But, it’s worth noting that Hall has won three of his last four bouts, and his only defeat during that time came against top-contender, Paulo Costa.

Adesanya would have liked to be Silva’s last opponent

And while talking about Sila’s pending exit from the UFC, ‘The Last Stylebender’ admitted he would have liked to have been the last person to face the legend.

“It’s a good way to send him off,” Adesanya said. “I would have liked to be the guy to send him off, but Uriah I think is a good stylistic matchup to send him off.”

What do you think? Could we see Silva go out on a winning note? And if he does win, could he postpone his retirement plans?
