Beach Boys Turn On Each Other After Band Headlines Trump Fundraiser

On Sunday, the 1960’s American rock band The Beach Boys performed at a fundraiser for President Donald Trump in Newport Beach, California. Afterwards, band members Brian Wilson and Al Jardine spoke out to blast their cousin, Mike Love, for unilaterally deciding to headline at the event.

The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson And Al Jardine Release Statement

“We have absolutely nothing to do with the Trump benefit today in Newport Beach. Zero,” Wilson and Jardine told Variety. “We didn’t even know about it and were very surprised to read about it in the Los Angeles Times.”

The Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday morning that The Beach Boys would be the main attraction at Trump’s fundraiser in Orange County.

Tickets for the fundraiser ranged from $2,800 per donor to $150,000 a couple for co-chair status.

Love, who has been unapologetic about his support for Trump in the past, owns the touring license for the Beach Boys’ name.

He has previously booked the Beach Boys to perform at the Safari Club International Convention in Reno, Nev., with Donald Trump Jr. as the keynote speaker.

That particular move prompted Brian Wilson and Al Jardine to create a petition on Change.org

“This organization supports trophy hunting, which both Al and I are emphatically opposed to,” said Wilson at the time, according to Fox News. “There’s nothing we can do personally to stop the show, so please join us in signing the petition.”

The Beach Boys’ Mike Love Performed At Trump Inaugural Ball

In 2017, Love also performed at an inaugural ball for Trump.

Afterwards, he told Uncut magazine that this was a “moving experience.”

“I don’t have anything negative to say about the President Of The USA,” Love added. “I understand there are so many factions and fractious things going on – the chips will fall where they may. But Donald Trump has never been anything but kind to us. We have known him for many a year. We’ve performed at some of his venues at fundraisers and so on.”

Fox News reported that Wilson and Jardine still perform together, but they use Brian Wilson’s name when they do so.

The original Beach Boys have not performed together since 2012, when they performed for a 50th anniversary tour.

Mike Love’s Touching New Song

Love has been keeping busy amidst all of this drama.

Earlier this year, he released his new song “This Too Shall Pass” in the hopes of helping his fans through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I know people are suffering,” he said. “I know people are going through so much. And so I just wanted them to know that this too shall pass and we will get back to having fun, fun, fun in the sun. The song is the message.”

We applaud The Beach Boys’ Mike Love for being brave enough to publicly support President Trump, as we know that this is not an easy thing to do in the liberal entertainment industry.

If only we had more performers in the world like him!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
